Overview:
About the role

Performance Marketing World is looking for a News Editor to cover the marketing industry, encompassing diverse areas such as search, paid social, affiliate marketing, e-commerce, AI innovation and influencer marketing.

As News Editor, your key responsibility will be managing the daily news agenda at PMW. You’ll also get under the skin of a fascinating industry by breaking news stories, analysing major trends, contributing to our podcast, and keeping readers up to speed with everything important happening in the world of performance marketing.

In terms of experience, ideally you will have worked in a digital news-based editorial environment and be hungry for more responsibility on a fast-paced news desk.

Haymarket and PMW both pride themselves on allowing talent to flourish, and this role brings significant editorial responsibility from day one. We’re therefore looking for an energetic self-starter who is curious and enjoys learning about a dynamic, global industry. You will work closely with other journalists on the team to uncover major news stories and secure exclusive insights for our audience.

Gathering, prioritising, and reporting news will be a core part of the role, alongside a strategic flair for identifying new content opportunities that could appeal to our audience.

This is a senior editorial role and will involve editing colleagues’ news stories and covering for the Deputy Editor and Editor when needed.

The core audiences PMW serves are brands, technology vendors, agencies, and advertising platforms such as publishers and social networks across the USA, APAC, and the UK. You will be expected to build a strong contact list and develop new and engaging ways to reach potential audiences and drive traffic to the main PMW site.
Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing, researching, and writing news stories and quick analysis for the website and its daily bulletins
  • Managing the daily news agenda for PMW
  • Managing PMW’s social media channels, primarily LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok
  • Working with the PMW editorial team, including the Editor and Deputy Editor, on audience growth and content strategy
  • Investigating key trends and holding the industry to account
  • Writing longer features and interviews
  • Writing weekly news round-ups, such as people moves
  • Maintaining and building relationships globally with senior executives across major brands, advertising agencies, technology providers, and digital media platforms such as Google, Meta, Amazon and TikTok
  • Managing and sending daily and weekly email bulletins to key audience groups
  • Updating and maintaining the PMW website on a daily basis, acting as the first point of contact for changing and optimising content
  • Moderating panels and speaker sessions at live and virtual events as part of the PMW editorial team, including Haymarket's largest confex, PMW Unlocked taking place in London in March 2026.
  • Opportunities to work on podcasts, video interviews, and social media projects
Skills / Experience / Knowledge / Minimum Criteria:
  • A creative, highly motivated journalist with experience on a busy news desk
  • Razor-sharp writing skills, ensuring all content is of the highest quality and accuracy
  • A strong instinct for spotting insightful news stories, alongside a clear understanding of entertaining, shareable content that grows traffic and drives engagement
  • An understanding of analytics and the use of real-time data to help shape content
  • A desire to learn from constructive feedback
  • Strong forward-planning and research skills
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage daily and weekly deadlines
  • The ability to build exceptional industry contacts
  • A team player who can adapt and operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Willingness to attend evening events
  • Confidence and enthusiasm to speak at PMW’s own events, webinars, and podcasts
  • An understanding of how to share and comment on social media platforms to drive engagement and grow audiences
  • A strong interest in the modern marketing industry and the relationships between advertisers, agencies, technology suppliers, and publisher platforms
  • A desire to grow your personal brand as a leading journalist in the advertising space
