Avatar Care Group has been providing general nursing care for our residents since 2003. Our homes operate under our ethos ‘Care, Quality & Compassion’ which is at the heart of everything we do.

We are looking for a Bank Cook to work at Sellywood House Nursing Home.

To be considered for the Bank Cook, it is essential that you have demonstrative culinary experience, preferably in a hospitality environment, accompanied by a relevant catering qualification and, as a minimum, the Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals according to menus, residents’ dietary requirements, and special requests.
  • Menu planning, food purchasing, and stock management.
  • Supervise kitchen staff and assist with training as required.
  • Ensure all food preparation and service is undertaken in a clean, safe, and hygienic environment.
  • Comply with Health & Safety, COSHH, Food Hygiene, and Environmental Health regulations.
  • Perform kitchen duties including cleaning, washing up, and equipment maintenance.
  • Report any faulty equipment or safety concerns promptly.
  • Promote the food service as a key contributor to the Home’s reputation and resident satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate records related to food preparation, stock, and kitchen activities.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Recognised catering qualification (minimum NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation/Cooking).
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (mandatory).
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in commercial, institutional, or care home catering, preparing varied menus.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, Environmental Health, and food hygiene legislation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, flexible, and professional.
  • Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check.
