Part-Time Technical & Compliance Admin / Supervisor (Food Safety & SALSA)

Location: London (Bermondsey)
Hours: 16 hours per week (flexible)
Salary: £18,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, part-time

About The Fresh Fish Shop

The Fresh Fish Shop is a premium seafood producer with over 30 years of experience, supplying high-quality fresh, smoked, frozen and value-added seafood to leading independent retailers and national groups across the UK.

As the business continues to grow, we are in the final stages of SALSA accreditation and preparing for further retail expansion. We are now looking for a part-time Food Safety & Quality Lead to support, maintain, and strengthen our food safety and compliance systems.

The Role

This is a hands-on, part-time technical and quality role, ideal for someone with food manufacturing experience who is confident working with established food safety systems.

You will be responsible for maintaining day-to-day food safety, quality, and compliance documentation, ensuring the business remains audit-ready and operates in line with SALSA standards and UK food legislation.

This role will work closely with senior management and external consultants when required.

Key Responsibilities

Food Safety & Quality

  • Maintain HACCP documentation and food safety records
  • Ensure traceability and mass balance checks are completed and recorded
  • Maintain supplier approval records and product specifications
  • Support allergen management and shelf-life documentation
  • Ensure product labelling complies with UK food legislation

SALSA & Audit Support

  • Maintain SALSA documentation and evidence files
  • Prepare records and documentation for audits
  • Support SALSA audits and external technical reviews

Compliance & Health & Safety

  • Maintain cleaning schedules, temperature checks, and corrective actions
  • Keep training and compliance records up to date
  • Support basic health & safety documentation

Retail & Customer Support

  • Assist with customer technical questionnaires
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation for retail customers

About You

Essential

  • Experience working in a food manufacturing, processing, or packing environment
  • Working knowledge of food safety systems and HACCP
  • Familiarity with SALSA or similar food safety standards
  • Understanding of UK food labelling and traceability requirements
  • Organised, detail-focused, and able to work independently

Desirable

  • Experience with chilled or high-risk food products
  • Seafood, meat, or fresh food sector experience
  • Experience supporting audits or retailer compliance
