Kitchen Assistants

We are looking for reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistants to join our team.

The successful candidate will support the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen, helping to prepare food, maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and ensure food is stored and handled safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare food in accordance with kitchen requirements.
  • Use kitchen equipment safely, including mixers, specialist knives and cutters.
  • Monitor kitchen stock and identify items that need replenishing.
  • Assist with ordering food supplies and checking deliveries where required.
  • Check expiry dates and ensure food stock is correctly rotated.
  • Follow portion control guidelines to minimise waste and maintain consistency.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen appliances, ovens, dishes, pans and work areas to a high standard.
  • Follow cooking times and ensure correct temperatures are maintained.
  • Maintain appropriate temperature control for chilled and cooked foods.
  • Follow safe food handling and hygiene procedures at all times.
  • Carry out safe manual handling when moving food, equipment and supplies.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and provide clear instructions when required.
  • Maintain punctual and reliable attendance.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong hygiene-first attitude and takes pride in maintaining a clean and safe kitchen.
  • Has good time-management skills and can prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Is a reliable team player who works well with others.
  • Is able to communicate clearly and give clear instructions when required.
  • Understands the importance of portion control, food safety and temperature control.
  • Is confident following routine cleaning procedures and maintaining high standards.
  • Can carry out manual handling safely.
  • Is punctual, dependable and willing to support the team during periods of holiday cover.

What We’re Looking For

Previous kitchen experience would be beneficial, but we are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate a positive attitude, reliability, teamwork and a commitment to high standards of food hygiene and safety.

Pay: From £13.35 per hour
