Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and culinary arts, with specific expertise in sushi making. This role involves creating authentic and visually appealing sushi dishes, maintaining high standards of food safety, and ensuring an exceptional dining experience for our guests. The Sushi Chef will play a vital role in upholding the restaurant’s reputation for quality and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi dishes according to traditional recipes and presentation standards
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and prepared in accordance with food safety regulations
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the sushi station, including equipment and utensils
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to coordinate meal preparation and service times
  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs for restocking
  • Assist in developing new sushi recipes and menu items to enhance customer offerings
  • Uphold high standards of hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in line with health regulations
  • Serve dishes to customers when required, providing excellent customer service and culinary expertise

Requirements

  • Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a Sushi Chef within a restaurant or hospitality environment
  • Strong knowledge of sushi techniques, ingredients, and presentation styles
  • Experience with meal preparation, food safety practices, and kitchen hygiene standards
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Previous experience in a restaurant setting is highly desirable
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
  • A passion for culinary arts and continuous learning in Japanese cuisine

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £14.00-£15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 48 per week
