Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Kitchen Assistant.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for exceptional food preparation and meal creation.

You will play a vital role supporting our Head Chef to prepare nutritious snacks and meals for children and staff, adhering to EYFS Nutrition Guidance, food safety regulations, and upholding our high standards around quality and presentation.

Duties include:

  • Support our Head Chef with preparing a variety of snacks and meals for children and staff in accordance with recipes, menu specifications and Early Years Foundation Stage Nutrition Guidance.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen, including proper storage and handling of ingredients.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and room staff to ensure smooth operations and handover during service periods.
  • Ensure that the kitchen is kept clean, organised, and free from hazards at all times.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a nursery, school kitchen or restaurant environment is preferred but not essential; a willingness to learn is key.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practice in meal preparation for children (EYFS Nutrition Guidance) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
