Full job description

Product Technologist

Working within the R & D team, working on product formulations & product performance from conception through to product launch in the market.

The role demands knowledge of Chemistry & some expertise in the laboratory, ideally skilled in the preparation of product prototypes and storage stability testing, to meet tight NPD timelines in an FMCG environment. Help & support the product technologists and formulation chemists with the prototype sample making process & storage stability testing in the laboratory - following current procedures for safety and GMP.

Experience and Qualifications:

- Ideally an HNC/HND Chemistry or similar

- Experience in a chemical laboratory and chemical apparatus essential

- A wide base of experience and knowledge of laboratory measuring equipment like viscometers, pH, % solids, would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help support the development of a portfolio of new formulations and products that are cost effective, delivered on time and are compliant to the applicable regulatory and statutory laws and legislation for the country of use.
  • Help the R & D team with the development process from lab through to scale up and delivery onto the plant - working with other key operational team members from Lab, Process, Purchasing, Production, Engineering, QA, SHE
  • Carry out routine laboratory and pilot scale processes using a range of equipment to prepare product samples as required
  • Take part in continuous improvement initiatives within the company to ensure that there is rationalisation of raw materials and packaging.
  • Help and support new product development team members to support evolving business needs.
