About Company Defender Advisory Ltd

Company Defender Advisory Ltd provides business rescue and corporate advisory services to companies facing financial difficulty, creditor action and complex commercial challenges.

We are expanding our team and are seeking a motivated and experienced Litigation Paralegal to support the management and progression of contentious and litigation-related matters.

This is an excellent opportunity for a capable Paralegal looking to take on a varied and responsible role within a growing business.

The Role

As a Litigation Paralegal, you will assist with the management and progression of matters involving commercial disputes, debt recovery, statutory demands, winding-up proceedings and other contentious corporate matters.

You will work closely with clients and assist in preparing cases for referral and instruction to appropriately qualified solicitors, barristers and other professional advisers where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the management and progression of litigation matters.
  • Reviewing legal correspondence, pleadings, court documents and supporting evidence.
  • Preparing detailed case summaries and chronologies.
  • Conducting legal research.
  • Assisting with the preparation of witness statements and supporting documentation.
  • Preparing draft correspondence and documents for review and approval.
  • Organising and reviewing disclosure and evidence.
  • Preparing court bundles and case papers.
  • Monitoring procedural deadlines and court dates.
  • Maintaining accurate case management records.
  • Liaising with clients and relevant third parties.
  • Preparing instructions and supporting documentation for solicitors and counsel.
  • Identifying urgent issues and escalating matters appropriately.
  • Providing regular updates on case progression.

Essential Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience as a Litigation Paralegal, Paralegal or Legal Assistant.
  • A Law degree, LPC, SQE, CILEX qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience or knowledge of civil or commercial litigation.
  • Good understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules.
  • Excellent legal research and drafting skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines.
  • Strong communication and client-management skills.

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following areas would be advantageous:

  • Commercial litigation.
  • Debt recovery.
  • Corporate disputes.
  • Insolvency litigation.
  • Statutory demands.
  • Winding-up petitions.
  • High Court proceedings.
  • Court applications.
  • Witness statements and evidence preparation.
  • Preparing bundles and instructions to counsel.

Professional Requirements

The successful candidate will be employed as a Litigation Paralegal and must work within their level of competence and authority.

The role will involve providing litigation support and case management. Any work requiring reserved legal activities, conduct of litigation, advocacy or other regulated legal services will be undertaken, supervised or referred to an appropriately authorised legal professional where required.
