Our Trust is one of England's top-performing and safest trusts. We operate two main acute hospital sites—Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital—along with award-winning clinics across North West London.
Our nearly 7,500 staff care for a diverse population of 1.5m, providing full clinical services including maternity, A&E and children’s services, plus specialist HIV and sexual health care. The CQC rates us Good in safety, effectiveness, care and responsiveness, and Outstanding in leadership and resource use.
We continually invest in our facilities, including a £30m expansion of critical care at Chelsea and an £80m Ambulatory Diagnostic Centre at West Mid.
We are delivering sustainable healthcare through our Green Plan. In line with Greener NHS ambitions, we aim for net zero carbon emissions by 2045. Achieving this requires collective effort. We encourage staff to reduce their impact on carbon, waste and pollution wherever possible. Every action counts to create a healthier, more sustainable future.
We are committed to equal opportunities and believe diversity drives innovation and excellence. We welcome applications from the global majority, veterans and underrepresented communities, valuing the perspectives they bring.
Independently undertake clinical and scientific photography of adults and children across a variety of clinical environments, including photographic studios, outpatient clinics, wards, operating theatres, emergency departments and other Trust locations.
Produce high-quality clinical images that accurately document patient conditions and support diagnosis, treatment planning, patient records, education, publication, research and medico-legal requirements.
Select, adapt and apply appropriate photographic techniques, including specialist lighting methods, composition, exposure control and colour management, to ensure images are clinically accurate, reproducible and fit for purpose.
Respond to urgent, complex and demand-led clinical photography requests, prioritising workload appropriately to meet the needs of patients and clinical services.
Maintain competence across the full range of Medical Photography services and demonstrate a high level of technical proficiency in clinical imaging, image management and the use of photographic equipment.
Utilise and maintain photographic, imaging and digital asset management systems, including Adobe Creative Suite, electronic patient record systems and departmental databases, ensuring the secure management of confidential patient information.
Undertake image processing, quality assurance and post-production activities in accordance with departmental protocols, professional standards and legal requirements, ensuring that image authenticity and clinical integrity are maintained at all times.
Obtain, document and manage informed patient consent in accordance with Trust policies, professional guidance and relevant legislation, ensuring patients understand the purpose, use and storage of their images.
Exercise a high degree of professionalism and discretion when working with vulnerable, distressed or critically unwell patients, adapting communication styles to meet individual needs and circumstances.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all relevant information governance, data protection, copyright and image security legislation, policies and procedures.
Manage and organise clinical photography workloads, including appointment scheduling, data management, record keeping and the efficient progression of requests through departmental workflows.
Independently participate in Teledermatology services and associated imaging activities following successful completion of departmental competency assessments.
Undertake specialist photographic assignments including dermoscopy, wound photography, private patient photography, clinical audit projects and other services delivered by the department.
Contribute to the delivery of non-clinical photography, videography and digital media projects, including staff portraits, newborn photography for our new maternity project, corporate communications, events, publications, presentations and Trust promotional materials.
Support the implementation and development of new technologies, imaging techniques, digital workflows and service improvements that enhance patient care and departmental efficiency.
Develop effective professional relationships with consultants, clinicians, nurses, allied health professionals and multidisciplinary teams, acting as a specialist resource on clinical imaging requirements and best practice.
Participate in departmental meetings, training programmes, competency assessments and continuing professional development activities, maintaining evidence of ongoing professional learning.
