HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter (Felixstowe)

Location: Felixstowe
Salary: Up to £44,720 basic (£21.50 per hour) plus overtime at £32.25 (time and a half)
OTE: Approximately £52,000 per year based on 5 hours overtime per week
Hours: 40 hours per week, rotating shifts 07:00–15:30 and 15:30–00:00 (midnight), 30-minute break
Job Type: Permanent

We’re looking for an experienced HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or HGV Fitter to join a brand-new, purpose-built depot in Felixstowe. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a growing workshop that invests in its people, offering professional training, modern facilities and real career development. You’ll work a rotating early and late shift pattern, maintaining and repairing heavy goods vehicles to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities of an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter
Diagnosing faults and providing accurate repair solutions
Carrying out maintenance, servicing and inspections on HGVs
Preparing specifications for quotes and repair works
Recording time accurately and ensuring all documentation is complete
Completing repair jobs and handing over to the service team for invoicing
Supporting shift handovers and communicating any outstanding work

Skills and Qualifications for an HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician / HGV Fitter

Essential
Level 3 qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
Experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Fitter or Truck Mechanic
Good understanding of VOSA requirements and MOT testers’ standards
Knowledge of Operators Licence compliance and DVSA regulations
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Desirable
Experience using GDS and Impact systems
Basic IT skills including Microsoft Outlook
Familiarity with workshop KPIs and reporting
Additional product knowledge or specialist training
