Salary £25,185 - £25,989 Per Annum | Permanent | Part Time | Various Hours | West Lancashire

We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer focussed and digitally confident individual to join our library teams.

Lancashire Libraries are a vital service that provide welcoming, inclusive spaces where people of all ages can connect, learn and feel safe. We're proud to offer access to quality resources, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and a supportive environment for everyone.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Library Assistant , you'll support the delivery of a high-quality library and information service.

This includes:

  • Assisting customers with accessing digital resources and information.
  • Supporting in the planning and delivery of events (e.g. author events, class visits
  • Engaging with customers to promote reading for pleasure

You will be appointed to a library base(s), but there will be an expectation that you will work at other libraries as required. Hours of work are listed against the available posts and are a set working pattern over two weeks and can not be adjusted, see attachment for rotas at the bottom of the advert .

What We’re Looking For:

Our ideal person will be welcoming and friendly, have a love for reading and be passionate about sharing this. You will have excellent communication and digital skills, be able to work with a range of stakeholders and be able to deliver a customer focused service.

Interview Process:

The interview process will be in two parts:

Part 1 - All shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an assessment day . This will last about 1hr and involve:

  • A meeting with a manager
  • Tour of the library and explanation of duties
  • Work related short assessments

Part 2 - All applicants attending the assessment day will be invited for interview .

Assessment Date: 9am to 6pm, 2 nd February - Skelmersdale Library

Interview Date: 11 th February – Skelmersdale Library

Please note the salary quoted for this position is the full time equivalent. These positions are part time, therefore, the salary received will be paid on a pro–rata basis.
