Job Opportunity: Deputy Manager
Supporting Young Lives with Compassion and Purpose

Required Qualifications:
Level 3/4 in Children and Young People or equivalent.

Waypoint Care is seeking a warm, dedicated, and experienced Deputy Manager to help lead our 3-bed children’s home in Doncaster. This is an opportunity to be part of a nurturing team that provides life-changing care for children and young people with complex needs and past trauma. The role involves offering a consistent and impactful presence in the lives of the children.

At Waypoint Care, we’re more than just a residential home provider—we’re a community built on compassion, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to helping children heal and thrive. We create safe, loving, and therapeutic spaces where children can rediscover their sense of self and grow with confidence. As we continue to expand, we offer excellent progression opportunities for passionate and capable team members who want to grow with us.

Your Role & Relationships

As a Deputy Manager, you will take an active role in both caring for the children and supporting the team. You’ll provide guidance, supervision, and mentoring to Residential Support Workers, helping them build the skills and confidence to offer the highest standard of care. You’ll report and work alongside the Manager and work collaboratively within a strategic, therapeutic team. Your insights and leadership will help shape care plans and ensure that each child receives the support they truly need.

What You'll Be Doing

Support:

  • Help children develop essential life skills, emotional strength, and social confidence.
  • Plan engaging activities that foster self-esteem and a sense of belonging.

Individualised, Therapeutic Care:

  • Collaborate with our therapy team, educators, and social workers to create tailored care plans.
  • Adjust plans as needed to reflect each child’s journey and evolving needs.

Safety & Emotional Support:

  • Support children through difficult moments with compassion and skilled de-escalation.
  • Foster a calm, secure environment where children feel safe and valued.

Guidance & Leadership:

  • Oversee daily operations with care and professionalism.
  • Offer mentoring and supervision to junior team members, helping them grow in confidence and skill.

Advocacy & Communication:

  • Be a strong advocate for the children’s voices, choices, and rights.
  • Maintain warm, respectful relationships with families and professionals involved in the children’s lives.

Compliance & Best Practice:

  • Ensure our home operates to the highest standards, meeting all legal and ethical requirements.
  • Keep clear, thorough records to support continuity of care and wellbeing.

What We're Looking For

  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people through trauma and healing.
  • Previous experience in a residential care setting or working with children in complex situations.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and emotional intelligence.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and offer a stabilizing presence.
  • A team spirit and a nurturing heart.

Growing With Us

At Waypoint Care, we believe that your journey matters too. We are deeply invested in the development and wellbeing of our team. When you join us, you’ll have access to:

  • Tailored Training Programmes to build your knowledge and grow your confidence.
  • Leadership Pathways to help you step into more senior roles as your experience deepens.
  • Ongoing Learning through workshops, courses, and mentoring.
  • Recognition & Reward of your hard work, compassion, and dedication.
  • A supportive environment where your voice is heard and your wellbeing is valued.
