Full job description

The Department of ISTEM (Innovation, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) plays a pivotal role in aligning our college with local and regional business needs while actively serving our community. With continued growth in 16–18 learner numbers and apprenticeships, our team is expanding, enhancing our capacity to deliver a high-quality curriculum.

This department is integral to our ongoing success in inspiring, recruiting, and supporting young learners in their achievements across Lancashire. We are now seeking an exceptional individual who can join us in shaping future successes.

We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Leturer in Engineering to join our dynamic ISTEM School.

The ideal candidate will hold a Level 4 (or above) qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline, and preferably have prior experience as a lecturer in Engineering.

The ability to deliver and assess practical workshop skills sessions would be an advantage, though not essential.

At Preston College our vision is ‘to transform lives through education’, and we take great pride in supporting all our learners to achieve the qualifications they need, alongside the development of technical skills and knowledge that employers and universities are looking for.

We are rated Good by Ofsted and have been recognised as making a ‘strong’ contribution to skills. We are ambitious in seeking excellent outcomes for our students, communities, employers and staff.

We have a strong College culture, underpinned by five key values developed with our diverse body of staff;

  • Welcoming and inclusive
  • Supportive and compassionate
  • Aspirational for our learners, ourselves and each other
  • Act with integrity and transparency
  • Be accountable

With Good financial health, the College provides generous terms and conditions that are intended to attract, motivate and retain the best people in delivery of our strategic objectives.

Our Board of Governors is committed to an ambitious Three-Year Plan, which sets out our aspirations from 2023 to 2026.
