Full job description

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Oxygen Therapy team supporting The Kent Oxygen Therapy Centre. The Oxygen Therapy Operator will be responsible for supporting the Senior Oxygen Therapy Operator and the Oxygen Therapy Volunteers with operating the chamber, assisting Members with making appointments, taking payments, answering and making calls and responding to emails.

Main purpose of job

 To undertake training of the Oxygen Therapy Chamber as required, to know and understand the function and control of the mechanical, electrical and gaseous equipment components of the chamber, to maintain clearly the required records of all sessions and to assist chamber users into and out of the chamber and to ensure their free passage to and from the chamber.

 To co-ordinate volunteer staffing of the Oxygen Suite alongside the Senior Oxygen Operator, to take payment for Oxygen Therapy sessions using the card machine, to make appointments for Oxygen Therapy Clients (this may be in person, via the phone or email).

 To have a clear understanding of Oxygen Therapy and the process to be able to explain to new enquirers when calling to discuss the next steps in their journey to having Oxygen Therapy. To maintain clear records on the inhouse database, use Excel and respond to email messages.

 To cover annual leave, longer hours maybe required during this time. We offer late night Oxygen Therapy once a week. To securely lock up the Centre as required.

Personal specification

 To be able to achieve and maintain an acceptable level of competence in all aspects of the role.

 To know, understand and observe always the rules for safe chamber operation and for the care and well-being of chamber users

 To be able to assist Members that are in wheelchairs in and out of the chamber safely and to be able to move chairs in and out of the chamber if required.

 To do all daily checks prior to operating the chamber and complete daily checklist.

 Cleaning as required before and after each session and to report immediately any faults and deficiencies. Particular attention should be paid to slip and trip hazards.

Skills, experience and qualities

 Good verbal communication and listening skills

 Willingness and patience to learn new a new skill in operating an Oxygen Therapy Chamber

 Friendly personality and positive attitude

 Good level of English both verbal and written

 Ability to work as part of a team and equally on their own initiative

 Ability to work well under pressure in a busy environment

 Time management & flexibility: skilled at prioritization with a willingness to work flexible hours on occasion

 Confidentiality & integrity: handles sensitive information responsibly, following policies and procedures. Support offered

 Induction training on operating the Oxygen Therapy Chamber

 Annual training

 Dedicated line manager offering advice and supervision Other information

 A formal interview and induction will be held for this role.

 This role requires an agreed level of training to be met.

 The role requires a good level of English language both written and verbal.

General

The post holder is required to be aware of and maintain a strict code of confidentiality at all times. All staff and volunteers at the Kent MS Therapy Centre agree to adhere to the Charity’s Code of Conduct. A basic DBS check will be required for this post.
