Full‑Time Day Care Assistant — Fernlea, Hazel Grove

About the role

Fernlea care home in Hazel Grove is looking for a compassionate, reliable Care Assistant to join our day team full time. You will deliver person‑centered, hands‑on care that helps residents maintain dignity, independence and a good quality of life.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide personal care including assisting with washing, dressing, toileting and continence support.
  • Support safe moving and handling: assist with lifting, transferring, re‑positioning and mobilising residents.
  • Promote wellbeing by encouraging participation in social and recreational activities and supporting meaningful daily routines.
  • Observe and record changes in physical and emotional health and report promptly to senior staff.
  • Work safely at all times, following health and safety procedures to protect residents, visitors and colleagues.
  • Represent the home positively and uphold our Philosophy of Care and the General Social Care Council Code of Conduct.

Person specification

  • Kind, calm and friendly approach with the ability to put residents at ease.
  • Experience preferred in residential or nursing care settings, or demonstrable transferable skills.
  • Knowledge of basic healthcare and hygiene standards.
  • Team player who is motivated, confident and able to use initiative.
  • Willingness to learn and take part in training and supervision.
