JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Housekeeper

Location: Lunn’s, Queen’s Arcade, Belfast, BT1 5FE

Department: Operations

Reports to: Assistant Operations Manager

Direct Reports: None

Hours of Work:

· 25 hours per week over 5 days (within the following working hours - 08:30 -17:30 Monday to Friday).

· 1 in 3 Saturdays: 08:30 – 16:30 (day off on during week if working Saturday).

· Ad hoc out of hours working may be required to carry out essential cleaning prior to events and/or visits. This could be within any of the company locations. Overtime paid as appropriate.

Role Specification

Role Purpose:

To provide a high standard of cleanliness throughout all our Belfast based Lunn’s sites, whilst contributing towards the overall Lunn’s Experience that our customers expect.

Responsible for the cleaning of designated areas both front and back of house, to a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness. As well as any other reasonable duties as part of the housekeeping and support team function.

Role Scope:

Work as part of a small cleaning team and support the Operations Department.

Area of Responsibility:

Cleaning

Key Activities:

· To complete all relevant general cleaning duties, including hoovering, mopping, dusting, window cleaning, emptying bins, cleaning kitchen areas and bathrooms along with a small amount of laundry.

· To ensure a high level of cleanliness is maintained throughout the company sites, ensuring all relevant areas are maintained to the frequency and standard set out.

· To contribute to any major cleaning tasks as required.

· Assist in preparatory cleaning for functions and special visits.

· Weekly / periodic deep cleaning tasks.

Areas of Responsibility:

Compliance Checks

Key Activities:

· Use cleaning chemicals safely as detailed and indicated by the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)

· Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required. Including Gloves, aprons, goggles etc.

· Position and control safety warning signs where required i.e. slippery surfaces.

· Work in line with current Health and safety and infection control legislation.

Area of Responsibility:

Equipment and Maintenance

Key Activities:

· Ensure working knowledge of mechanical cleaning equipment and standard maintenance to keep equipment working correctly.

· Knowledge of electrical safety while using mechanical cleaning equipment.

· Undertake training if required on new or unfamiliar equipment.

· Knowledge of cleaning agents and correct control / storage.

· Report all faulty equipment through the relevant channels.

Key Activities:

· Work as a member of a team as well as working alone.

· Contributing to the team ethos and supporting colleagues appropriately.

· Maintain high quality of security standards while working in all areas.

· Basic standard of I.T. to be able to complete e-learning effectively.

· As part of your employment, you may be required to undertake other duties appropriate to your role. Hours of overtime may be required at your place of work or any other of the company’s’ locations.

Skills

Essential

· 2 years’ experience in housekeeping or cleaning.

Desirable

· Trained to BICSc Standard.

· Working knowledge of COSHH

· Professional manner with colleagues, customers and 3rd parties.

· Clear Communicator, both written and verbal.

· Willing to learn and develop new skills and undertake training.

· Attention to detail in all aspects of the work.

· Self-motivated, with ability to work with little supervision and with a team, when required.

· Ability to cover multiple floors / staircases, as well as moving small furniture.

· Excellent timekeeping.
