Team Profile
Operations is a world-class global team of dedicated professionals, performing a myriad of functions, all with a common purpose: to manage Morgan Stanley's Clearing and Trading & Client operational processes and deliver value to our clients in a controlled and efficient way. The broad organization partners closely with Sales and Trading to develop and implement new products and services as well as drive efficiency and reduce risk in our processes. At all times we are focused on delivering quality service to clients both internal and external.

The group is responsible for the financing / funding and optimisation of the Firms inventory.

The team have daily interaction with the trading desk and are required to liaise with operational colleagues across a range of disciplines to ensure the timely and accurate execution, collateralisation and optimisation of trades, providing an opportunity to develop a strong network across firm.

The successful candidate will be working in a dynamic and challenging environment, covering either the firm financing/funding or collateral management.

Responsibilities of the role include:
  • Exposure / Collateral management for Morgan Stanley across either CCPs, Triparty or Bilateral transactions
  • Product exposure can include either some or all of Stock Loan, Repo and Derivative transactions
  • Ensuring the firms Liquidity and Capital optimisation targets are met, whilst meeting regulatory requirements across LCR, NSFR and Intraday Liquidity requirements
  • Proactively explore tactical and strategic solutions to close identified control gaps, working with other groups as appropriate.
  • Maintain a clear focus on enhancing control and continuously improving and reducing operational risks.
  • Troubleshoot problems arising on an ad-hoc basis

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent: analytical, financial or mathematically related subject favoured
  • Candidate will have prior exposure of either derivative, stock loan or repo products
  • Candidate should have a good understanding of front to back trade booking flows
  • Understanding of legal documentation from CSAs, to GMRAs and GMSLAs
  • Understanding of key Optimisation initiatives such as Cheapest to Deliver inclusive of Liquidity/Capital metrics such as LCR, NSFR, Intraday Liquidity, Leverage and Capital ratios
  • Good analytical skills are essential for the role, attention to detail will also be a requirement
  • Good interpersonal and relationship management skills, being able to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • The candidate will be required to convey issues succinctly to front office stakeholders and to reach timely resolutions with counterparties
  • Candidate should be able to organise themselves efficiently as they will need to prioritise and keep track of multiple outstanding items while working to meet daily deadlines
  • Candidate should be a self-starter with the ability to work either on their own initiative as well as be a solid team player.
