Smiths has grown from a single owner-operated plant hire company to a multifaceted group with family values still firmly at the heart of each project undertaken. With depots in Avonmouth, Cardiff, Gloucester, Stonehouse and Tewkesbury we operate predominately across the South-West of England. We specialise in Construction, Waste Management, Plant Hire, Demolition and Transport operations.
Based: From Brook Farm Depot (GL2 7ND).
Responsibilities for the job role:
We’re looking for a proactive team player to join our Commercial Waste team. If you enjoy staying active and working outdoors, this role could be a great fit for you.
As part of a bin collection round, you’ll be working alongside the driver, helping with a variety of tasks. This is a physical, mobile role that involves regular movement in and out of the vehicle, as well as completing paperwork on a company tablet.
Your responsibilities will include:
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys keeping active, working as part of a team, and takes pride in doing a job well.

Assisting the driver with collecting wheelie bins and waste bags

Cover food waste rounds when required

Helping with washing, greasing, and general vehicle maintenance when required

Accurately completing all necessary paperwork

Following all Health & Safety instructions and wearing the correct PPE

Always applying safe working practices

Immediately reporting any accidents, injuries, or near misses

Completing weekly timesheets and handing them to your supervisor
