Location: Royston, Hertfordshire (Hybrid working available after initial training)
Salary: £24,000 – £28,000 per annum (pro-rata if part-time), depending on experience and qualifications
Job Type: Full-time (preferred) or Part-time options available
Hours: 35 hours per week (for full-time option)

We are a dedicated, close-knit family business that has been proudly serving the Royston area for over 25 years.
Our small, supportive team takes pride in offering an excellent service to our clients while maintaining a friendly and welcoming workplace culture. We are looking for a Bookkeeper to join our long-standing team, with the salary tailored strictly to your current level of experience and qualifications.
The Role
This role offers fantastic flexibility, with hybrid working options available, and part time work being an option for the right candidate. To ensure you receive the right level of support and training for our specific workflows, the role will be based at our Royston office during your 3-month probationary period. Once you are fully settled and confident, we are pleased to offer a hybrid working structure combining office and remote work.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing daily financial transactions and data entry.
- Reconciling bank statements, credit control, and matching invoices.
- Assisting with or preparing quarterly VAT returns.
- Handling sales and purchase ledgers.
- Maintaining accurate financial records using Xero (with support and training provided based on your experience level).
- Communicating with clients professionally.
- All of the above responsibilities will involve working on multiple clients books, across various different industry's.
RequirementsWe are open to different backgrounds and will tailor the role to the right person:
- Option A: AAT Level 3 qualified with limited practical experience, but eager to learn and develop within an accountancy practice.
- Option B: Minimum of 2 years of practical bookkeeping experience, highly confident using Xero, and "qualified by experience" (AAT Level 3 desired but not essential).
- Attributes: Comfortable working within a small family business environment; excellent attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
