Full job description
About the role
We are looking for a Head of Marketing from a premium food and drink or hospitality background who has a genuine passion for speciality coffee and a curiosity about the people, producers and craft behind it. Working closely with our founder and our Head of Creative, you will help shape Origin into the most aspirational and respected speciality roaster in the UK, and the leading speciality roaster in Europe.
Origin is growing, and you will help shape that next chapter, building on the quality and credibility that make us distinctive. Our ambition is for our coffee to belong in the best homes, cafés and restaurants in the country, with our own shops and partners reflecting the same high standards. Each experience shapes how people see Origin. You will bring a clear view on how we grow while staying true to speciality coffee.
What you'll do
-
Partner closely with our Head of Creative to make sure every marketing activity reflects the brand consistently.
-
Shape Origin’s next stage of growth. Build on our speciality coffee expertise and credibility to guide where and how we grow, making thoughtful choices when commercial opportunities and brand values pull in different directions.
-
Provide strategic leadership for marketing, defining priorities, managing budgets, building a high-performing team and implementing robust performance metrics to drive brand growth, customer acquisition and revenue generation.
-
Ensure consistency across all channels, wholesale, our coffee shops, online and retail, and partnerships to tell the same story at the same level. We’re thoughtful about where Origin appears and who we work with, so that every placement reflects our standards.
-
Build partnerships that strengthen Origin’s brand alongside the Head of Creative. Shape who we collaborate with and how, developing relationships with customers and partners whose values and positioning complement our own.
-
Cross-functional collaboration across the business, partnering with wholesale, retail, coffee and the roastery so Origin's position is reflected in every cup and every interaction, not only in our marketing.
-
Working hand in hand with our founder, turn the founder's vision into a clear marketing strategy. Planning, owning and delivering it.
Who you are
-
You love speciality coffee and have a drive to understand it on a deeper level such as the producers, roasters, cafés and the people who care about all of it.
-
You have senior marketing experience in speciality coffee, premium food and drink or hospitality.
-
You care about growing thoughtfully. You understand the balance between reaching more people and staying true to what makes speciality coffee meaningful, earning trust along the way.
-
You have a strong appreciation for brand. You recognise the impact of thoughtful, well-crafted work and enjoy collaborating with creative teams to bring ideas to life beautifully and consistently.
-
You notice the details. From major campaigns to everyday interactions, you understand that every touchpoint shapes how people experience a brand.
-
You understand hospitality and its influence. You appreciate what makes a memorable café, restaurant, or hotel experience and recognise the role these environments play in shaping perceptions of coffee and quality.
-
You bring commercial awareness. You enjoy understanding how different parts of a business connect and can help ensure priorities remain aligned to support sustainable growth.
-
You are naturally collaborative. You build strong relationships across teams, work comfortably alongside founders and senior leaders, and bring people with you through clear communication and shared purpose.
What you'll bring
Essential
-
At least 7 years in marketing, including 3+ years leading a team or function, ideally at a premium consumer, food & drink or hospitality brand.
-
Able to set a clear marketing strategy and turn it into measurable plans that teams across the business can deliver.
-
A record of growing a brand across several channels: direct-to-consumer, retail/cafés and wholesale
-
Commercial awareness: comfortable setting KPIs, tracking spend and reporting on ROI to the leadership team.
-
Experience building and owning the marketing calendar and budget, setting clear priorities and timelines for the wider team to implement.
-
A strong grasp of e-commerce and digital marketing (CRM, paid media, SEO, subscriptions and retention), so you can work closely with the dedicated e-commerce team, aligning marketing activity to support the strategy they set.
-
Experience managing PR agencies and building good relationships with press and media, from setting the PR strategy to measuring coverage.
-
Experience working closely with a creative or brand team, setting clear marketing objectives and channel requirements that feed into their briefs.
-
Confident using data and insight to make decisions and measure performance across channels.
-
A collaborative leader who works well across teams, including creative, copy, e-commerce, coffee, sales, wholesale, cafés and operations.
-
Able to prioritise in a fast-moving, growing business.
-
Experience communicating sustainability and impact credibly, without greenwashing.
Desirable
-
Experience in speciality coffee or a similar premium, craft or provenance-led category (e.g. speciality food, drinks or lifestyle).
-
Existing contacts across food & drink, lifestyle or trade press.
-
A real interest in coffee, sourcing and the stories behind the product.
-
Experience with product launches, partnerships and events or community marketing.
-
Experience in wholesale or B2B marketing alongside consumer marketing.
-
Experience growing a UK brand into international markets.
Working at Origin
-
26 days’ holiday, including your birthday off, plus 8 flexible bank holidays
-
Unlimited coffee and discounts on merchandise and partner products
-
B Corp certified and proudly independent
-
People-first culture with meaningful, values-led work
-
SCA training and learning opportunities for everyone
-
Enhanced family leave, sick pay, period leave, and personal days
-
5% employer pension contribution
-
24/7 Employee Assistance Programme and GP service
-
2 paid volunteering days each year
