Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled temporary Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in a professional, safe, and efficient manner. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to patient care. Prior primary care experience and laboratory knowledge are highly desirable. The position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic medical environment, contributing to accurate diagnostics and patient well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Collect blood samples from patients using proper phlebotomy techniques, ensuring minimal discomfort and maximum safety.
  • Prepare and label specimens accurately for laboratory analysis, adhering to strict protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and sterile work environment following aseptic techniques to prevent contamination.
  • Assist with patient identification and verification procedures in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Provide compassionate care and reassurance to patients, including paediatrics and individuals with special needs.
  • Document all procedures accurately in accordance with medical terminology standards.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines, including basic life support protocols when necessary.
  • Support laboratory staff with specimen processing and related tasks as required.

Experience

  • Previous experience in phlebotomy or related laboratory roles is preferred.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology relevant to blood collection procedures.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, aseptic techniques, and laboratory safety standards.
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS) is desirable.

Job Type: Temporary
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: £14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 6 per week

Work Location: In person
