ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Food Safety & Compliance Manager oversees the implementation of key microbiology and food safety programs for the factory, ensuring full compliance with HACCP, GFSI, customer requirements, and regulatory standards. This role identifies and assesses food safety risks, leads root cause analysis, and drives corrective actions in partnership with production and management teams. The position also manages the daily operations of the on-site laboratory, including staff oversight, resource management, safety compliance, and verification of test results to support food manufacturing quality standards.

The role requires being on-site full‑time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement, and manage plant-wide food safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure full compliance with HACCP, GMP, and all regulatory food safety standards.
  • Lead internal food safety audits, inspections, and sanitation/EMP reviews.
  • Serve as master trainer for GMP, HACCP, hygiene, and pest management.
  • Investigate food safety incidents, analyze trends, and drive corrective actions.
  • Maintain and monitor HACCP, CCP, and OPrP documentation and validations.
  • Oversee allergen management and validation programs.
  • Coordinate and oversee pest management activities and vendor performance.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to strengthen food safety culture and risk mitigation.
  • Maintain accurate records and update procedures, ensuring timely training for staff.

ABOUT YOU:

  • BS degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in food safety to include training in HACCP and EMP.
  • Experience with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) food safety standards, preferably FSSC22000 or British Retail Consortium (BRC).
  • High degree of computer literacy
  • Working knowledge of Sanitation, ISO and working SPC/statistical knowledge
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and delegate
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to climb stairs, bend, stand, kneel, work over and under all equipment and machinery and be able to move about the entire factory, both interior and exterior freely
