Full job description

WILLOWDENE WOMEN’S CENTRE · CHORLEY, SHROPSHIRE

Women’s Centre Residential Practitioner

Ref: WRES2602 · Permanent, full-time (part-time considered)

Closing date: 8th July 2026 · Expected start: August 2026

SALARY: £27,500.00+ £60 per sleep-in shift

This is a role with real purpose. At Willowdene, we’ve been changing women’s lives for over 30 years — and we need a dedicated, compassionate professional to join our team and help us keep doing it.

About Willowdene: We run the only alternative to custody programme for women in England — a 12-week residential rehabilitation programme that gives women a real alternative to a prison sentence. Rooted in trauma-informed practice, our approach addresses the root causes of offending and substance misuse and supports each woman with a bespoke holistic care plan.

We believe every woman deserves the chance to rebuild her life — and our team makes that possible every single day.

What you’ll be doing:

Supporting recovery - Walk alongside women on their journey, helping them build confidence and lasting change.

Trauma-informed assessments - Build trusted relationships through careful, compassionate assessment and planning.

Life skills development - Equip residents with practical skills — finance, tenancy, emotional regulation and more.

Safe, caring environment - Maintain a supportive, structured setting where women feel safe and respected.

Team working - Be an active, valued part of a passionate and dedicated professional team.

Rota & on-call cover - Work flexibly including evenings, weekends and sleep-in shifts on a rotating rota.

Who we’re looking for

ESSENTIAL

  • Experience in social care, criminal justice, substance misuse or a comparable field
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards it)
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Full UK driving licence with access to own vehicle (max 6 points)
  • Alcohol/drug-free for a minimum of two years

YOU’LL ALSO BRING

  • Genuine empathy and professional warmth
  • Confidence working independently and within a team
  • Ability to maintain clear professional boundaries
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice
  • Flexibility to work a rota including evenings and weekends

What Willowdene offers you
