This role plays a key part in ensuring the consistent implementation, communication, and improvement of AECOM’s quality systems, policies, and procedures — in line with client requirements and our Integrated Management System (IMS).

You will act as a quality ambassador, helping project teams to embed a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring compliance, and driving operational excellence. This role reports directly to the Regional QA Lead (UKI) and may support one major project or a portfolio of similar projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist input during project start-up, including preparation of project quality and management plans.
  • Coach and mentor Project Managers to sustain a strong quality culture.
  • Support and execute internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with project and corporate requirements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Gather and analyse quality performance data (KPIs, trends, etc.) and report to the Regional QA Lead.
  • Drive Lean initiatives and quality improvement programs to reinforce continuous improvement.
  • Support ISO certification maintenance (9001, 14001, 45001) and compliance across offices in the assigned region.
  • Manage quality inductions, awareness sessions, and training within projects.
  • Contribute to client feedback processes and organize quality meetings as needed.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Certified Lead Auditor/Internal Auditor for ISO 9001 (or equivalent).
  • Chartered Quality Professional or equivalent qualification preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a quality assurance role within large infrastructure or engineering projects.
  • At least 8 years as a certified Internal or Lead Auditor.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • In-depth understanding of ISO 9001 implementation and auditing.
  • Familiarity with Lean methodologies, ISO 44001 (collaborative working), ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
  • Strong analytical and statistical reporting skills (KPIs, trend analysis).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English; other languages an advantage.
  • Strong organizational and stakeholder management abilities.

Personal Attributes:

  • Acts as a role model with integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to quality and safety.
  • Confident communicator with strong influencing and coaching skills.
  • Proactive, decisive, and accountable — focused on achieving results.
