Overview
Based in the Research and Development, a successful Quality Control Analyst will play a vital role in the day- to-day operations of the business. While great design, sales and marketing will open many doors, only the quality of what we release guarantees repeat purchases. Ensuring products are always of impeccable quality with incredible taste is what will maintain our market-leading position.
Principal Accountabilities
- Prepare comprehensive and accurate QC reports, encompassing data collection, analysis, and documentation of findings
- Monitor and verify that the quality-related site activities are in accordance with the applicable standards.
- Manage the control of non-conforming products on site, implementing appropriate measures for identification, segregation, and disposition
- Execute analytical testing using a range of spectrometry equipment (GC-FID, GC-MS, HPLC, FT-IR) in accordance with established SOPs
- Produce reports detailing analytical findings and interpretations
- Perform finished product testing, including but not limited to: Specific Gravity, Flash point, RefractiveIndex and other
- Support New Product Development (NPD) initiatives as required
- Maintain strict confidentiality of flavour ingredients and compositions to protect intellectual property
- Support the preparation of Certificates of Analysis, ensuring accurate and timely documentation forproduct batches
- Contribute to ISO audit preparedness, ensuring all laboratory practices and documentation meetrequired standards and regulations
- Maintain laboratory inventory, including flavour concentrates and consumables, ensuring properstorage and availability of all materials
- Provide additional support during peak periods or staff absences to ensure continuity of operations
Key contacts and relationships
You will work closely with Head of R&D & Technical, Head of NPD & Innovation, Lab Analysts on a day-to-day basis.
Knowledge, qualifications and experience
- Minimum of three years' relevant industry experience (may substitute for formal education)
- Demonstrated expertise in operating and interpreting data from HPLC and GC
- Experience with spectroscopic techniques such as Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR)
- Competence in using Chemstation, Masshunter, or equivalent deconvolution software
- Comprehensive understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
- Familiarity with Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) regulations (advantageous)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong general computer literacy and adaptability to specialized software systems
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
- Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment
