As a part of the management team, the role is to work alongside the Centre Leader to provide effective organisation and management of the nursery, to ensure high quality care and education, responding to the individual needs of our children and families. You will take a lead role for the nursery team including when the nursery is open out with school hours. There will be quality assurance responsibilities, and you will also assist in the delivery of high-quality learning and development for our staff team. You will lead on supporting children who face disadvantages and reinforce the ambition to close the attainment gap.
As Senior Early Childhood Practitioner (SECP) on full year contract, you will be required to work 50 weeks of the year. 50 week settings are closed 2 weeks at Christmas and for some public and occasional holidays. Your working pattern will be Monday and Tuesday however, you may be required to work alternating shift patterns to meet the needs of the settings operational hours and in agreement with their line manager.

You must operate in a manner appropriate to the needs of young children and their families in the Centre and its surrounding community, within the context of authority and nursery policies and procedures.
You will have responsibilities for self-evaluation, improvement planning and quality assurance across the Centre.
We are proud of the very strong relationships we have with partner agencies and so a role in our Centre will require you to collaborate with other professionals on a daily basis.
You must have SNNB/HNC/SVQ 3 in Childcare/Education or equivalent and be able to evidence additional studies e.g. PDA or modules from a relevant degree and have a commitment to work towards a qualification to allow registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as a Lead Practitioner i.e BA Childhood Practice, within SSSC timescales.
