Key responsibilities

Quality Assurance (QA)

  • Maintain and update the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Ensure compliance with BRCGS, GMP, HACCP, ISO 22716, and customer requirements.
  • Help in writing, reviewing, and issuing SOPs, work instructions, and controlled documents.
  • Conduct internal audits and support external audits.
  • Lead investigations for deviations, non-conformances, and customer complaints.
  • Manage CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions).
  • Approve and monitor suppliers; maintain supplier documentation.
  • Verify production batch records and ensure full traceability.
  • Support training of staff on quality procedures and hygiene standards.
  • Ensure effective change control management.

Quality Control (QC)

  • Carry out incoming raw material checks and verification against specifications.
  • Conduct finished product quality checks prior to release.
  • Maintain calibration for lab and in-line equipment.
  • Record, trend, and report QC data.
  • Manage sampling for micro testing (if required).
  • Quarantine and reject any non-conforming materials or product.
  • Support environmental monitoring (water quality tests, hygiene checks where applicable).

Production & Operational Support

  • Act as the main quality contact on the shop floor.
  • Support production start-up checks and line clearance.
  • Ensure hygiene and housekeeping standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in quality within food, drink, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, or supplement manufacturing.
  • Understanding of BRCGS, HACCP, GMP, and basic microbiology principles.
  • Experience writing or following SOPs.
  • Competent in QC testing (pH, viscosity, weight checks, etc.).
  • Strong documentation and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to lead investigations and communicate corrective actions clearly.
  • Good IT skills (Excel, QMS systems).
  • BRCGS audit experience.
  • Understanding of allergen control, traceability systems, and water quality checks.
