Reports to: Process and Site Compliance Manager

Job Purpose:

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily quality operations, overseeing testing activities, ensuring product compliance and supporting continuous improvement. The role provides guidance to Quality Technicians, manages laboratory equipment and calibrations, and works closely with Production, Maintenance and the Process and Site Compliance Manager to maintain high product standards and support business improvement.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Supervise daily quality operations and coordinate workload across the Quality Technicians.
  • Provide coaching, technical guidance and support to the quality team.
  • Oversee daily line walks, ensuring quality issues are identified, communicated and resolved.
  • Ensure all quality testing (tensile, FTIR, MFI, DSC, heat ageing, reversion, ring stiffness, raw materials testing) is completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain and oversee calibration schedules for all laboratory and testing equipment.
  • Support product development testing and method updates where required.
  • Produce scheduled quality reports, highlighting trends and out of tolerance results.
  • Ensure accurate recording, reporting and storage of all quality test data.
  • Work closely with Production and Maintenance to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Lead investigations into quality issues, customer complaints and non conformances.
  • Support ISO 9001 compliance through testing, documentation and process adherence.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement across quality and production teams.
  • Support training of operators and new team members on quality standards and testing methods.
  • Ensure stock checks, raw material testing and traceability processes are followed.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and the wider group to support improvement initiatives.
  • Manage Kitemark testing requirements, ensuring all mandatory tests are completed in line with BSI schedules.
  • Arrange and coordinate the dispatch of Kitemark samples to BSI every six months, ensuring correct sample selection, documentation and traceability.
  • Drive proactive identification of risks and improvement opportunities across SHEQ disciplines.
  • Step in and provide cover for the Process and Site Compliance Manager when they are not on site, ensuring continuity of quality and compliance oversight.
  • Maintain a contingency plan to ensure the Quality team remains competent and able to cover critical tasks at all times.
  • Attend customer visits when required, supporting technical discussions, presenting quality data and representing the site professionally.
  • Ensure training records for the Quality team are maintained, up to date and demonstrate competence for all required tasks.

Key Experiences:

  • Proven experience in a Quality role within manufacturing, with hands-on quality testing experience.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently when required.
  • Experience supervising or coaching others.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, environmental management (ISO 9001), quality standards, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in quality testing techniques (tensile strength, FTIR, MFI, DSC).
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and database management.
