Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Senior Care Assistant to join our dedicated team within a reputable care home. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for providing high-quality care to our residents. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of elderly individuals while working in a supportive and professional environment. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with relevant experience in senior care and supervising roles.

Duties

  • Deliver personalised care to residents in accordance with individual care plans, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
  • Supervise and support junior care staff, fostering a positive team environment and ensuring high standards of care delivery.
  • Assist residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility, promoting independence where possible.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, including updates to care plans and recording any changes in residents’ conditions.
  • Coordinate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive resident support.
  • Lead by example in adhering to health and safety regulations, including infection control protocols.
  • Support residents with medication management as per prescribed care plans.
  • Contribute to organising activities that promote mental and physical wellbeing among residents.
  • Utilise IT systems effectively for documentation and communication purposes.
  • Drive residents when necessary, ensuring safe transportation for appointments or outings.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working within a care home environment specialising in senior care.
  • Supervising or leadership experience within a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
  • Valid driving licence with the ability to drive residents safely when required.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Knowledge of care planning processes and the ability to implement individualised care strategies.
  • Proficiency in IT systems used for documentation and communication within healthcare settings.
  • Compassionate nature with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
