Full job description
The Company:
Founded in 1969, IAE is the UK’s largest manufacturer of agricultural livestock handling and feeding equipment, as well as industrial security fencing. As a family-owned business with approximately 400 employees on one modern site in Stoke-on-Trent, IAE prides itself on quality and innovation in manufacturing.
The Role:
A vital role in supporting the busy procurement department of IAE, you will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of the procurement process, including tracking orders, generating purchase orders, and resolving issues with suppliers regarding shipment delays or quality lapses. Your attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders will contribute to the efficiency and success of our purchasing operations.
Main Responsibilities Include:
- Purchase Order Processing – responsible for processing purchase orders from requisition to delivery, to ensure accurate entry and timely placement with suppliers. Preparing purchase orders and ensuring accuracy in all documentation.
- Stock assistance – Coordination with the inventory control team to monitor stock levels.
- Coordinating with suppliers to track and update delivery schedules, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods and services.
- Maintaining and updating the purchasing database and records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information
- Assisting in resolving any supplier-related issues or discrepancies, such as quality control or invoice discrepancies
- To undertake any other duties as necessary within the Procurement Department
The successful candidate will need to have the following skills:

- Ability to work well under pressure and in a busy environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting
- Methodical and logical approach to tasks.
Desired:
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
- Working in a fast-paced office
- Some knowledge of procurement practices would be beneficial.
- Experience in using ERP/ MRP Systems would be a bonus along with Sage 1000 software.
We’re eager to hear from you if you’ve previously worked as a Procurement Assistant, Buying Assistant or in an office administrator role and can handle a variety of tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
For the right candidate, additional training and qualifications may be offered as part of the role to ensure the candidate has the required skills to excel in this role.
The above positions come with a permanent contract, progressive pay rates, 32 days of paid holiday per year (rising to 34 with loyalty days), and automatic enrolment into our pension scheme with 5% employer contributions and life insurance. Additional benefits include a health cash plan, gym discounts, access to perks and deals, and mental health support.
Working 39 hours, Monday to Friday. This is an office-based role.
