Full job description

Are you ready to chart your own career path? With our refreshed strategy, we’re building on our rich heritage and transforming our business to be more scalable and efficient, unlocking the capabilities needed for future success. This includes significantly investing in technology, streamlining the way we work and creating an environment where colleagues feel engaged, empowered and accountable; where they can show up, speak up and perform - because we believe in the difference our work makes.

At a glance:

Location: London - Lombard Street Office

Workplace Type: Hybrid - 2 days in office and 3 days remote

Employment Type: 9 month Fixed-Term Contract

Seniority: Mid-Senior Level

The role:

We have a newly created opportunity for a Senior Investment Risk Analyst to join our growing team within SJP’s Investment Directorate. This team provides independent oversight of the risks across SJP’s range of investment funds and acts as a key challenge partner to our investment managers and senior leaders.

As one of the UK’s largest Authorised Fund Managers, SJP delegates some investment decisions to external managers. However, we retain accountability for monitoring and understanding the risks for own funds to ensure excellent client outcomes. This role sits at the heart of that responsibility.

You will help strengthen our oversight by contributing to analysis, reporting, and due diligence activities, while also supporting the modernisation of our risk systems and processes.

Who we're looking for:

We’re looking for someone who is curious, analytical, and comfortable working with detail. You enjoy solving problems, asking the right questions, and speaking up when you identify a risk or improvement opportunity.

You’ll be adaptable and confident working in a fast-moving environment, with the ability to adjust reporting and analysis for different senior stakeholders. A natural collaborator, you will work closely with investment risk managers, quantitative analysts, and other teams across SJP to deliver high-quality outputs and good client outcomes.

What you'll be doing:

  • Contributing to investment risk oversight across SJP’s UCITS fund range
  • Producing and evolving composite risk reports using internal tools and external platforms such as Bloomberg and Python
  • Running and interpreting multi-factor risk models, stress tests, liquidity analyses and other portfolio risk measures
  • Supporting due diligence on external third-party investment managers and reviewing their risk processes
  • Working closely with investment risk managers, quantitative analysts, Investment Research, Tech & Data, and Group Risk
  • Helping evolve the risk oversight processes in line with SJP’s governance, Consumer Duty expectations and continuous improvement culture

Essential Criteria

  • Experience across investment markets, particularly UCITS, liquidity risk and portfolio analytics
  • Hands-on experience with risk tools such as BlackRock, Aladdin and Bloomberg and ideally Python & SQL.
  • The ability to run, interpret and explain complex risk models, including stress tests and liquidity risk assessments
  • Experience contributing to risk reviews of external fund managers

Desirable Criteria

  • Bloomberg PORT or BQuant for portfolio and risk analysis
  • Broader exposure across asset classes or investment risk methodologies
  • Experience or exposure in an investment or financial services environment

What's in it for you?

We reward you for the work you do, whether that’s through our discretionary annual bonus scheme that reflects both personal and company performance, competitive annual leave allowance (28 days plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase an additional 5 days), or online rewards platform with a variety of discounts.
We also have benefits to support whatever stage of life you are in, including:

  • Competitive parental leave (26 weeks full pay)
  • Private medical insurance (optional taxable benefit)
  • 10% non-contributory pension (increasing with length of service)

Reasonable Adjustments

We're an equal opportunities employer and want to ensure our recruitment process is accessible and inclusive for all, if you require reasonable adjustment(s) at any stage please let us know by emailing us at careers@sjp.co.uk
Research tells us that applicants (especially those from underrepresented groups) can be put off from applying for a role if they do not meet all the criteria or have been on an extended career-break. If you think you would be a good match for this role and can demonstrate some transferable experience please apply, regardless of whether you tick every box.

What's next?

If you're excited about this role and believe you have the skills and experience we're looking for, we'd love to hear from you! Please submit an application by clicking ‘apply’ below and our team will be in touch.
As a business regulated by the FCA we would advise you to familiarise yourself with the conduct regulations and in particular consumer duty obligations prior to an interview with SJP.
