Alpha Construction Ltd is a leading Civil Engineering Contractor in the UK, delivering infrastructure projects across sectors including National Grid, Battery Energy Storage (BESS), Anaerobic Digestion, and High Voltage Substations.

We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to strengthen our commercial team. Working with a project team you will spearheading all aspects of commercial management for your projects from subcontractor procurement and management to client valuations and change management over a variety of projects for both public and private sector clients. Projects will be various types of civil engineering schemes including energy transmission, distribution and storage, flood defence, anaerobic digestion, industrial sectors.

Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic commercial department, as a Quantity surveyor at Alpha Construction you will:

  • Maintain accurate contract cost reporting and forecasts.
  • Monitor projected costs and cash flow
  • Agreeing and submitting monthly valuations to clients and progressing receipt of certification and payments.
  • Measurement of works
  • Materials reconciliation
  • Manage contract variations and claims
  • Subcontractor management, including procurement, drafting subcontracts, agreement of T's & C's, and contract administration through to final account
  • Uphold the company values of collaboration, integrity, innovation and excellence
  • Preparing a cost/value reconciliation at monthly intervals
  • Monitoring and reporting progress

Skills & Qualifications

  • Relevant degree eg Quantity Surveying \ Commercial Management Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Between 5 – 10 years’ experience.
  • Strong understanding of commercial management principles and methods.
  • Experience with various forms of contract (NEC3, NEC4, JCT)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication.
  • Motivated, well organised, with an eye for detail
  • Capable of managing multiple live projects
  • Experience with contract admin tools such as CEMAR would be beneficial
