Senior Quantity Surveyor

Liverpool Office
Hybrid / Flexible Working
Ready to Boss Liverpool’s Skyline?
We’re looking for a passionate and dynamic Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Liverpool team and leave your mark on the city you love. If you're eager to work on iconic projects and showcase some Scouse pride, this is your chance to shine.
Why Walker Sime?
At Walker Sime, we’re not just another construction consultancy—we’re a down-to-earth, people-focused community that’s highly respected in the industry. Our Liverpool office is a hub of collaboration, where everyone’s voice matters, and success is built on strong relationships and shared goals. We pride ourselves on being genuine, approachable, and committed to the growth and development of both our people and the projects we undertake.
What We Offer:
- Prestigious Projects: Work on landmark developments that shape Liverpool’s skyline and contribute to the city’s future.
- Diverse Sectors: We’re working across a broad range of sectors, including museums, defence, residential, life sciences, infrastructure, master planning, industrial, health, decarbonisation retrofits, marine, commercial offices, hotels, demolition, public realm, and active travel corridors.
- Prime Location: Our office, nestled in the vibrant Princes Dock, offers stunning views of the River Mersey and is a stone's throw from Liverpool’s bustling city centre.
- Varied Project Scales: Our projects range in value from £0.5M to £5B, providing a broad spectrum of scale. You’ll have the opportunity to work across multiple procurement routes and forms of contract, ensuring an exciting and diverse workload.
- Supportive Team: Join a close-knit team of 10-12 professionals in Liverpool, backed by our wider QS team of around 20 talented individuals. We collaborate closely with our Manchester office, ensuring a holistic approach to project delivery and professional growth.
- Comprehensive Services: Our team provides a mix of Cost Management, Employer’s Agent, Fund Monitoring, and general commercial management for clients across both public and private sectors. Our work is broadly split 50/50 between pre and post-contract status, giving you exposure to all phases of project delivery.
- Career Growth: We’re committed to your professional development, offering you the opportunity to lead high-profile projects and advance your career in a supportive environment.
- Unrivalled Culture: At Walker Sime, our team’s energy extends beyond the office! We’re all about staying active and having fun, whether it’s cycling, playing football, hitting the gym, or just hanging out and enjoying our vibrant office life. Our culture is built on strong connections and lots of laughter, both during work and in our social activities. From celebrating milestones to casual coffee breaks, there’s always something happening that brings us together.
Your Day-to-Day:
You don’t get to the Senior QS level without knowing the ins and outs of what the role entails, so we’ll keep it brief. At Walker Sime, you’ll be:
- Leading Project Delivery: Take charge of projects from inception to completion, ensuring they’re delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
- Managing Costs: Providing expert cost management services, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, while managing costs effectively across all project stages.
- Interacting with Clients: Building and maintaining strong relationships with both public and private sector clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring we exceed their expectations.
- Mentoring: Guiding and mentoring junior members of the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Collaborating: Working closely with your colleagues across our Liverpool and Manchester offices, contributing to the collective success of our team.
About You:
- Proven Expertise: Experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, with a successful track record of managing projects, ideally within a consultancy setting.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of various sectors within Real Estate such as museums, residential, life sciences, infrastructure, and more, with experience in different procurement routes and contract forms.
- Leadership Skills: A collaborative spirit with the ability to lead projects and guide teams towards successful outcomes.
- Relevant Qualifications: A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field, along with membership in a relevant professional body (RICS or equivalent), is highly desirable. If you’re not yet chartered, there's no better place than Walker Sime to help you get there, with our highly skilled and approachable mentors ready to guide you every step of the way.
What Makes Us Different:
At Walker Sime, we’re proud to be a company that values people over corporate jargon. Our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that different perspectives make us stronger, and we actively encourage applications from all backgrounds.
Whether you’re looking to advance your career with exposure to top-tier projects or you’re an aspiring chartership candidate seeking a nurturing environment, Walker Sime is the place where you can truly make your mark.
