About us

Hackney Tuition Centre is an Ofsted-registered tuition centre in Haggerston, East London, helping local children with English, maths, science and 11+ since 2011. We are now starting weekday-morning classes for women in the local community, and we are looking for a female teacher to lead them.

The role

- Teach small, women-only groups (up to about 12 learners) Quran reading, tajweed and core Islamic studies

- 2 to 3 mornings a week, around 10am to 12pm, at our centre at 108 Weymouth Terrace, E2 8LR

- Plan simple, structured lessons and keep track of each learner's progress

- Welcome visitors and take a name and number from anyone who pops in with an enquiry

- Start date: January 2027

What we are looking for

- Completed an Aalimah course, or an equivalent Islamic studies qualification

- Fluent Quran recitation with tajweed

- Good spoken English

- Warm, patient and reliable

- Right to work in the UK

- Willing to have an enhanced DBS check (we can arrange this)

Nice to have

- Teaching experience, with adults or children

- Arabic

Because the classes are for women only, being female is an occupational requirement for this role (Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9).

To apply, please send your CV and a short note about your studies and any teaching experience.

Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4.0 – 6.0 per week
