Health and Fitness Lead
Location: South School (SE1), East School (E1) and offsite locations across London Zones 1–6
Working Pattern: Full Time
- Monday: 8.30am – 4.30pm
- Tuesday: 8.30am – 4.30pm
- Wednesday: 8.30am – 4.30pm
- Thursday: 8.30am – 6.00pm
- Friday: 8.30am – 4.00pm

We are The Complete Works (TCW), a registered charity and independent alternative provision school delivering bespoke, nurturing education to young people across London who thrive outside of mainstream settings.
Working across Key Stages 1–5, we specialise in highly personalised education, blending academic studies with creative and vocational learning. Students are taught through Learning Hubs, small group provision and one-to-one education within local communities and students’ homes. Our curriculum enables students to access GCSEs, BTECs and a broad range of qualifications while placing creativity, wellbeing and tailored support at the centre of everything we do.

We are seeking an energetic, compassionate and motivated Health and Fitness Lead to champion physical wellbeing, movement and healthy lifestyles across all TCW settings.
About the Role
The Health & Fitness Lead will promote physical health, fitness, movement and wellbeing across TCW schools. The role combines direct delivery of Health & Fitness, PE and BTEC Sport provision with strategic whole-school planning to embed physical activity and healthy lifestyles into student provision.
You will work collaboratively with teachers, Student Welfare Officers (SWOs) and school leaders to design engaging and accessible physical activity opportunities tailored to the needs of young people within alternative provision settings.
This role includes supporting both onsite and one-to-one offsite students, developing sustainable activity programmes, increasing staff confidence in delivering movement-based activities and using sport and fitness to improve wellbeing, engagement and self-esteem.

About You
You are passionate about sport, fitness and health and understand the impact physical activity can have on young people’s confidence, engagement and mental health.
You are confident delivering engaging PE, sport and fitness sessions and can adapt your approach to meet the needs of students with SEND and SEMH in both school and offsite settings.
You build strong, positive relationships with young people and are able to motivate and support learners who may have struggled in traditional education settings. You are flexible, proactive and comfortable working independently across multiple sites.
What you will be doing
- Deliver Health & Fitness, PE and BTEC Sport & Physical Activity sessions to small groups and individual students
- Plan and deliver engaging, practical and differentiated lessons suited to students with varied educational experiences and levels of engagement
- Inspire students to understand the importance of physical activity, health, fitness and wellbeing
- Deliver agreed programmes of study and vocational qualifications including BTEC pathways
- Build positive and professional relationships with students
- Support students’ emotional regulation and engagement during physical activities
- Travel to offsite education settings to work directly with teachers and students
- Design bespoke physical activity programmes tailored to students’ interests, abilities and barriers to engagement
- Identify and develop local opportunities for students including:
- Support teachers who are less confident delivering PE or movement-based activities

Requirements:
- Legal right to work in the UK - we unfortunately cannot offer visa sponsorship
- Enhanced DBS Certificate and Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable).
- Two professional reference checks.
- Experience working with young people, ideally with SEN or SEMH
- Degree educated
Training:
- One off induction day – 9.00am – 3.45pm
- Five Tuesday afternoon induction training sessions- 4.30 – 6.00pm
- Ongoing professional development on Thursday afternoons – 4.30 – 6.00pm
- You will be teaching and training simultaneously.
