Job Title: Management Accountant
Location: Hybrid/Remote (attendance at our Milton Keynes office at least 1 day per month)
Reports To: Financial Controller
Employment Type: Full-time
About the Role
We are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting knowledge, advanced spreadsheet skills, and the ability to transform large, complex datasets into meaningful financial insights. You’ll play a key role in supporting decision-making through accurate management reporting, forecasting, and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and commentary against budget and forecast.
- Maintain and reconcile key balance sheet accounts and support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Build, maintain, and improve complex Excel/Google Sheets models to track financial and operational performance.
- Manipulate large data sets from multiple systems (ERP, CRM, BI tools) to produce accurate and timely reports.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
- Support data-driven decision-making by providing clear visualisations and analytical insights.
- Develop process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in reporting and data management.
- Liaise with department heads to explain financial results and support business initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
Skills & Qualifications
- Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Proven experience in a management accounting or financial analysis role.
- Advanced Excel and/or Google Sheets skills — including pivot tables, advanced formulas, lookups, Power Query, and data visualisation.
- Experience manipulating and analysing large datasets; familiarity with BI tools (e.g. Power BI, Looker Studio, Tableau) a plus.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to identify trends, explain variances, and translate financial data into actionable insights.
