JOB TITLE: IT Technician

PAY: £30,000 pa

HOURS: 37.5pw

REPORTS TO: Head of Technical Operations

ROLE OVERVIEW

The CHAOS Group is a Cornish based, community focused organisation delivering a

range of regulated support and outreach services including health and social care

services, reablement, domiciliary care, mental health step-down support, wellbeing

and day services. We also operate a media and broadcast platforms, hair and beauty

services and hospitality venues across multiple sites in Cornwall.

This role requires a capable and motivated IT Technician to provide day-to-day

technical support across all CHAOS Group sites. The post-holder will be the first point

of contact for IT issues across the organisation, responsible for maintaining hardware,

software, connectivity, and mobile technology, and ensuring our teams can work

efficiently and securely across all locations.

This is a mobile, multi-site role requiring regular travel between our Cornwall sites. A full

UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential. This role is also subject to a

mandatory enhanced DBS check.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

USER SUPPORT & HELPDESK

  • Act as first-line IT support for all CHAOS Group staff across sites, resolving

hardware, software, and connectivity issues in a timely manner

  • Maintain a helpdesk log, prioritising and escalating issues as appropriate
  • Manage and troubleshoot printers, peripherals, and AV equipment
  • Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff as needed
  • Create and maintain knowledge base articles for common issues
  • Provide training to end-users on software and hardware usage
  • Provide on call IT support for out of hours (on a rota basis)

MICROSOFT 365 AND OFFICE

  • Administer and support the Microsoft 365 environment including Exchange

Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Intune

  • Create and manage user accounts, licences, distribution groups, and security

settings within M365 Admin Centre

  • Provide staff training and guidance on Microsoft Office applications (Word,

Excel, Outlook, Teams)

  • Support document management, shared drives, and collaborative working tools

within the M365 ecosystem

HARDWARE ROLLOUT

  • Set up, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and mobile

devices

  • Assist in the planning and execution of hardware rollout projects
  • Deploy new hardware to end-users, ensuring minimal disruption to their work
  • Provide post-implementation support and troubleshooting
  • Manage and maintain hardware inventory
  • Coordinate with vendors for hardware procurement and repairs

MOBILE TECHNOLOGY

  • Manage the organisation’s mobile device fleet, including smartphones and

tablets, using MDM (Mobile Device Management) tools

  • Configure, enrol, and maintain devices in line with CHAOS Group’s Acceptable

Use and Information Security Policies

  • Support staff with mobile applications, email configuration, and remote access
  • Ensure mobile devices are appropriately secured and data is protected in line

with UK GDPR requirements

SECURITY AND COMPLIANCE

  • Implement and maintain IT security measures including antivirus, patch

management, and access controls

  • Support the organisation’s compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Security and

Protection (DSPT) Toolkit requirements

  • Ensure data backup systems are functioning and regularly tested
  • Assist with IT-related aspects of Subject Access Requests and data protection

obligations as directed by the DPO

GENERAL

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of IT policies, procedures, and

documentation

  • Support new starter onboarding and leaver processes from an IT perspective
  • Participate in IT projects and digital improvement initiatives as required
  • Maintain a professional and helpful manner when supporting staff at all levels
  • Stay up to date with the latest technologies and trends

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL

  • Degree in IT, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent relevant

experience

  • Proven experience (3+ years) as an IT Technician or similar role
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and

other common software applications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and living the values of CHAOS Group
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities across different

sites

  • Willingness to attend all training considered relevant to the organisation

DESIRABLE

  • Experience Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g. MS-900, AZ-900, MD-102)
  • An understanding of CompTIA A+ or Network+
  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • Knowledge of IT security standards and compliance frameworks (e.g. Cyber

Essentials, GDPR)

  • Experience with Mobile Device Management (e.g. Intune)
  • Familiarity with cloud-based telephony or VoIP system
