Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activity Coordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a care home specialising in senior care. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents, many of whom may require dementia or Alzheimer's care. Duties
- Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including those with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
- Foster social interaction and engagement among residents through group events, individual activities, and special programmes
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents’ needs and preferences, ensuring activities are appropriate and inclusive
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted and resident participation
- Encourage residents’ independence and personal development through customised activity plans
- Support residents during activities, providing assistance as needed while promoting dignity and respect
- Organise outings, entertainment, and special events to enrich residents’ daily lives
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants during activities by adhering to health and safety guidelines
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, or care environments specialising in senior or dementia care is highly desirable
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s and dementia care best practices is advantageous
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members
- Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of older adults
- Ability to organise engaging activities that cater to diverse needs and abilities
- Experience in caregiving or care home settings will be considered an asset
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on individual resident requirements
