Overview
We are excited to announce the opening of a brand new nursery and are seeking a dedicated Deputy Nursery Manager to join our team. This pivotal role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced childcare professionals with leadership qualities to contribute to the development of a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children. The successful candidate will assist in managing daily nursery operations, supporting staff, and ensuring high standards of care and education are maintained. This paid position is ideal for individuals passionate about early childhood development and eager to grow within a dynamic setting.

Duties

  • Support the Nursery Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the nursery, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
  • Assist in implementing high-quality childcare and early childhood education programmes tailored to children's developmental needs.
  • Lead and motivate a team of nursery staff, fostering a positive, collaborative, and professional working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to childcare and health & safety standards.
  • Engage with children to promote their social, emotional, and educational development through planned activities and play.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing updates on their child's progress and addressing any concerns promptly.
  • Organise staff rotas, monitor attendance, and support staff training and professional development initiatives.
  • Contribute to maintaining a welcoming, safe, and stimulating environment that encourages learning through play.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working within nurseries or early childhood education settings.
  • Strong management and leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team.
  • Knowledge of childcare legislation, health & safety regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Experience working with children across various age groups with a nurturing approach.
  • Childcare qualifications such as Level 3 Diploma in Childcare or equivalent are preferred.
  • Valid driving licence is desirable for travelling between nursery sites or community activities.
  • Passionate about early childhood development with a commitment to providing high standards of care.
