Head of Curriculum Development
Location - East School (E1), South School (SE1) and Central Office (SE1)
Working Pattern: Full time
Monday – Wednesday: 8.30am – 4.30pm
Thursday: 8.30am – 6.00pm
Friday: 8.30am – 4.00pm
Salary: From £40,000 FTE per annum

We are The Complete Works (TCW) a registered charity and independent alternative provision school that delivers bespoke, nurturing education to young people across London who thrive outside of a mainstream setting. Covering Key Stages 1 through 5, we specialise in a bespoke approach to learning, blending academic studies with creative and vocational subjects. Education is delivered through a flexible combination of Learning Hubs, small group collaboration and one to one lessons taught in local communities or students' homes. With a diverse curriculum that enables students to sit for GCSEs, BTECs and other qualifications, we firmly place creativity, wellbeing support and tailored learning at the core of our mission, helping students rediscover their aspirations in a safe and supportive community.
Following our Outstanding Ofsted judgement in 2025, TCW is entering an ambitious phase of curriculum development, innovation and digital transformation across all schools.
We are seeking a visionary Head of Curriculum Development to lead the design, development and ongoing evolution of our curriculum across all subjects and key stages. This is a central leadership role shaping what and how students learn across the organisation.
You will lead on curriculum architecture, scheme of work development, assessment design, digital learning platforms and the strategic use of AI in education. You will bring your mainstream knowledge and expertise to further shape and develop TCWs curriculum.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and maintaining whole school schemes of work across all subjects
- Ensuring curriculum aligns with national frameworks and TCW principles
- Leading assessment frameworks and progression models
- Overseeing curriculum resources and teaching materials
- Leading digital curriculum platforms and EdTech strategy (including AI)
- Line managing subject consultants and IT systems support
- Ensuring curriculum is accessible, inclusive and SEND-informed
- Developing enrichment and cross-curricular learning experiences
- Contributing to whole school strategy and Ofsted readiness
About you:
You will have significant curriculum design experience, ideally from a mainstream background, strong understanding of pedagogy and evidence-informed practice and experience leading teams or subject specialists.
You will be confident working with digital platforms and have an interest in how AI can enhance curriculum design and delivery.
Experience working with SEND learners and alternative education contexts is highly desirable.

Requirements:
Legal right to work in the UK - we unfortunately cannot offer visa sponsorship
Enhanced DBS Certificate and Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable).
Two professional reference checks.
Experience working with young people, ideally with SEN or SEMH
Degree educated
Training:
One off induction day – 9.00am – 3.45pm
Five Tuesday afternoon induction training sessions- 4.30 – 6.00pm
Ongoing professional development on Thursday afternoons – 4.30 – 6.00pm
You will be teaching and training simultaneously.
