This is a key role supporting the continued operational success and scalability of the business, ensuring our systems remain reliable today while enabling efficient, future growth.

Geosense produces high-quality, robust sensors for the civil, infrastructure, mining and environmental sectors. Our products are used on some of the world’s most prestigious construction projects and are supplied globally to customers in over 80 countries.

Based at our purpose-built facility just outside Bury St Edmunds, this role will work closely with all areas of the business and act as the central point of contact for IT and digital systems. This is a hybrid role, with a requirement to attend the office regularly. Candidates must be able to travel to site within approximately one hour.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on and proactive IT professional who thrives in an SME environment, with the ability to balance day-to-day operational support with longer-term system development and improvement. This role offers a great opportunity to take ownership of IT within a growing international business and shape how technology supports its future.

Main duties include:

  • Take ownership of all IT infrastructure, networks, systems, and devices, ensuring reliability, security, and performance
  • Act as the primary internal contact for IT support, troubleshooting issues and providing user assistance across the business
  • Manage user accounts, access controls, permissions, and system configurations
  • Support and improve core business systems (ERP, CRM, finance, productivity and reporting tools)
  • Lead the implementation and development of AI tools to support business efficiency and performance
  • Coordinate and manage external IT providers and system partners
  • Implement and maintain IT policies, procedures, and controls (security, backups, business continuity)
  • Support staff in adopting and effectively using digital tools, including training and guidance
  • Manage system upgrades, changes, and improvements with proper planning and communication
  • Monitor system performance and proactively resolve risks and recurring issues
  • Maintain accurate system documentation and processes

Strategic responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a clear IT and digital systems roadmap aligned to business growth plans
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce manual work, and enhance data visibility
  • Work with senior leadership to ensure systems scale effectively with the business

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Proactive and solutions-focused
  • Organised and detail-oriented
  • Calm under pressure
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Accountable and self-motivated
  • Collaborative and supportive
  • Comfortable working autonomously
  • Focused on continuous improvement
  • A strong team player

Essential Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a hands-on IT or digital systems role
  • Experience supporting and managing business-critical systems in an SME environment
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft environments (OS and server)
  • Experience administering multiple systems (ERP, CRM, etc.)
  • Understanding of IT security, access control, and permissions
  • Experience working with external IT providers or partners
  • Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload independently
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with cloud platforms, SharePoint, or infrastructure
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or Salesforce
  • Exposure to AI tools or Copilot rollout
  • Knowledge of process automation and digital transformation
  • Understanding of IT in a manufacturing environment
  • Relevant Microsoft or other IT certifications

Pay: £42,000.00-£52,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company pension
