About us

OK Diners are classically styled 1950's American restaurants, with booth seating, rock and roll music and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

We are famous for our juicy stacked burgers made to our own recipe, thick dairy ice cream shakes, all day breakfasts and delicious pancakes… a great American diner menu cooked to order and good value too. Just like in the United States where simple food is plentiful and bottomless coffee comes as standard.

Role profile:

To constantly and consistently deliver excellence in customer service therefore maintaining a fantastic reputation through service, style and standards.

As part of the management team of the business, you are responsible for keeping standards high and ensuring every member of the team act as ambassadors for the business, creating an outstanding first impression and genuine welcome for every visitor.

To be actively involved in developing and coaching a highly motivated team maintaining agreed standards and addressing any performance issues to ensure service consistency.

To work closely with the General Manager to implement all OK Diner policies and procedures, to ensure the business is functioning within company guidelines and to identify and address problems.

Key accountabilities of the role:

To complete job responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and effective manner and in accordance with all Ok Diner policies and procedures.

To manage every shift responsibly, whilst providing a role model for all the team and leading by example in all you do.

To comply with, implement and maintain all statutory and legal processes and procedures demonstrating integrity at all times.

To maximise team members potential through a positive commitment to training, coaching and development.

To encourage a customer responsive culture where exceptional customer service prevails and absolute standards are adhered to.

To be involved in marketing activities in line with business goals and be instrumental in driving new initiatives.

To ensure compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH & RIDDOR and be responsible for the safety of all customers and visitors and to be responsible for creating and maintaining a safe working environment as directed by the Health & Safety at work act 1974.

To manage complaints and issues in such a way as to ensure that our customers know that we, as a business, are concerned with their happiness. Always striving to achieve delighted customers who cannot wait to return and who will recommend us to others.

To handle company cash responsibly and follow the daily cashing up procedure correctly ensuring that all the paperwork is completed and filed.

To check and accept deliveries to the business, ensuring accuracy, following up on any discrepancies, and filing the delivery note away correctly on the same shift that it arrives.

To ensure that the business is locked and secure when leaving and the alarm is set and active.

To be responsible for the cleanliness and tidiness of the premises during your shifts, ensuing that ‘Clean as you go’ principals are practiced to ensuring we are continually providing a comfortable, impeccably clean environment for our guests and to be responsible for instilling these principals into every team member through training and coaching to ensure consistency.

To ensure that, at all times, the approach to the business and outside areas are spotless and inviting.

To use your full understanding of OK Diner’s ingredients and dietary information to train and coach team members to enable them to assist customers with any queries.

To ensure that every dish and drink that is served whilst you are on shift is served correctly to company standards and to take responsibility for training or coaching team members to ensure consistency.

Have a full understanding of the products offered and any current promotions to enable you to train and coach team members to promote the sale of food and drink through product knowledge.

To maintain at all times, a high standard of personal cleanliness, grooming and appearance and to ensure that your demeanour and professionalism are a credit to the business at all times.

To ensure the licensing laws as applicable to this business are being adhered to and to train and coach members of our team to ensure we are consistently working inside the parameters of the law.

To be responsible for handling cash and stock accurately and to ensure discrepancies are kept to a minimum and any occurrences are recorded and rectified in addition to being reported to the General Manager.

To ensure that at all times you are an ambassador for the OK Diner company, demonstrating its visions and values in all you do. To ensure that nothing you or your team do could have an adverse effect on the company’s reputation.

To ensure all issues relating to customer service (stock levels, maintenance etc.) are rectified as quickly as possible and the resolution is communicated to the General Manager.

To have a full and detailed understanding of the company handbook to enable you to work within the parameters of the company policies and procedures.

To be involved in the progression of the business by contributing ideas and working with the management team to launch new initiatives and ensuring their success.

Starting wage: £9.15 per hour
