The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Family Lawyer to join our growing Family Law team based in Nottingham. This role offers the opportunity to work on a high-quality caseload within a high-performing and forward-thinking department. Some travel and occasional out-of-hours attendance will be required for business development activities, meetings, and training.

The successful candidate will have significant experience handling high-net-worth financial matters, Children Act proceedings, and a broad range of family law work.

As a key member of the team, you will play an important role in delivering exceptional legal services while contributing to the continued growth and development of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and progress a varied caseload across all aspects of family law, including:
  • Preventative and advisory work
  • High-net-worth financial remedy negotiations and proceedings
  • Children Act matters
  • TOLATA claims
  • International family law matters
  • Injunctive proceedings
  • Develop and build a specialist area of expertise within family law
  • Work closely with senior colleagues to progress matters and support the strategic development of the team
  • Contribute to business growth through networking, relationship building, and market profile raising activities
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, delivering a consistently high standard of service
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, policies, and case management procedures
  • Manage files efficiently and commercially
  • Support, supervise, and mentor junior team members
  • Maintain and develop technical knowledge and professional skills

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A recognised legal qualification
  • Approximately 5+ years' post-qualification experience in family law
  • Strong technical expertise across a broad range of family law matters, including:
  • Divorce and financial remedy work, including high-net-worth cases
  • Pre- and post-nuptial agreements
  • Children Act proceedings
  • TOLATA disputes
  • International family law matters
  • Injunctive relief
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive and commercially minded approach
  • Experience contributing to business development initiatives
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in case management systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • The ability to work collaboratively while managing responsibilities independently
  • Sound judgement, integrity, and professionalism
  • Empathy and sensitivity when dealing with clients facing challenging personal circumstances
