Full job description
This is an exciting opportunity to lead an innovative integrated community mental health service. You will play an integral role in further developing the service, teaching and training new team members and primary care staff and providing clinical and managerial leadership to the team.
MINT is a model of community-based mental healthcare for adults aged 18+ with a wide range of mental health difficulties. The MINT model focuses on supporting people’s mental health, alongside their physical health and social needs, providing joined-up, community-based care tailored for each individual. The service aims to offer therapeutic intervention and support within 28 days.
MINT has been developed to reflect NHS England’s Long Term Plan and the Community Mental Healthcare Framework with an ethos of The right care. At the right time. In the right place.
There are nine MINTs across the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow. Each MINT team is aligned to between one and three primary care networks, which are made up of a cluster of general practitioner surgeries.
Clinical leadership: You will have a key role in a liaison/consultation model to provide early, easy access advice to GPs and the Primary Care Networks to support care of patients in the locality. GPs in the borough will be able to contact you via telephone or email for advice during working hours. You will also provide clinical leadership to the team in clinical multi-disciplinary team meetings and referrals meetings as well as being available for case discussions, advice and supervision within and outside team meetings, assessments and more direct input in particular in risk and/or medication management and diagnostic assessments.
Relationships : you will be expected to maintain positive relationships with colleagues in the Primary Care Network as well as in other secondary care mental health teams, Talking Therapies, Local Authority and 3rd sector partners.
Service development: You will work in partnership with the Team Manager to provide leadership and development to the MINT Team. This will include developing strategy, quality improvement, audit, and written policies and guidelines for the future delivery of MINT Services through working collaboratively with others in WLNT and the PCNs and other stakeholders.
Training and education: You will be expected to participate in training for key individuals in the Primary Care Network such as GPs as well as within the MINT team itself.
West London NHS Trust is one of the most diverse healthcare providers in the UK, delivering a range of mental health and physical healthcare and community services. The Trust runs Broadmoor Hospital, one of three high secure hospitals in the country, with an international reputation.
Our high secure services care for patients from South of England and we provide low and medium secure services across eight London boroughs. The Trust also provides mental and physical healthcare in three London boroughs (Ealing, Hounslow and Hammersmith & Fulham). We employ over 5,000 staff, of whom 59% are BME. Our turnover for 2024-25 is over £500m.
The Trust is rated as ‘Good’ overall by the Care Quality Commission. Forensic services are rated as ‘Outstanding’.
The Trust is an established partner and contributor in the development of the evolving North West London Integrated Care System and the Integrated Care Board. The Trust leads the NW London Children and Adolescent Mental Health provider collaborative.
