SENIOR SUPPORT WORKER

Job Title: Senior Support Worker

Pay Rate: £29,558 - £31,664 depending on qualifications and experience (scale based on qualifications and experience, inclusive of sleep in at £50 per sleep - Minimum of 4 sleeps per month)

What will I do as a Senior Support Worker

As a Senior Support Worker you will lead by example and be accountable for the safety and well being of our young people, whilst on shift with them. You will lead the shift and will provide advice, assistance and support to our young people and safeguards their welfare at all times. Attend to their practical, physical and emotional needs. Act as an appropriate role model and work closely with them to enable them to address their difficulties and achieve their optimum potential.

You will

  • Lead the shift
  • Support and develop the staff team
  • Establishing positive relationships with young people and always offering them unconditional and positive regard
  • Act as a role model and demonstrating appropriate pro-social ways of dealing with problems
  • Help young people gain self-control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding acceptable, pro-social conduct.
  • Ensure that each young person’s care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their changing needs
  • Establish relationships which young people perceive to be positive, warm and rewarding
  • Provide advice, assistance and support on a 1:1 basis to enable young people to address past and present difficulties
  • Provide emotional support at times of difficulty or stress
  • Be ambitious for young people, helping them achieve their goals and optimise their potential
  • Keep accurate records and providing written reports on young people for planning meetings, reviews or any other meetings as directed by the line manager
  • Empower young people and facilitating their active involvement in the decision making about their lives and future
  • Act as an advocate at meetings
  • Support and devlop staff
  • Complete staff supervisions
  • Follow policies and procedures

To be consider to work for us , you must have

  • Childcare qualification - Diploma Level 3 /4 or equivalent
  • You must be over 21 years old.
  • Minimum of 1 years experience working in a resdiential setting
  • Candidates must be suitable to work with children & young people within a care setting (pre-employment checks)
  • Ability to relate to and communicate with young people forming and maintaining appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Awareness of safeguarding issues and ability to safeguard the welfare of young people.
  • Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours
  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence
