This position can be based in any of our UK Fulfilment Centres

Our Fulfilment Centre operations are at the heart of Amazon customer experience. Each action we undertake is done on behalf of our customers, as meeting their expectations makes us feel good.

The EU Health and Safety function is part of the Operational teams and supports our Fulfilment Centres who are responsible for managing the vast range of fast paced inventory from inbound to outbound and work very hard to ensure that our customers receive what they want, when they want it.

Key job responsibilities

Lead a team of Senior Safety Managers and Program Managers, including performance driven issues

Lead UK Fulfillment Centre safety programs

Be a net contributor to EU CF EHS leadership and functional progression

Oversee safety performance metrics reporting and communication

Will be responsible to manage 10-12 UK Customer Fulfillment sites.

Assist general managers in communication, training, and execution of the Safety & Environmental Programs throughout the regions FC’s

Ensure compliance to EU and UK/IE laws as it applies to Occupational Safety for all relevant FC’s

Perform regular gap analysis to best justify funds for site safety improvements and react to Associate feedback

Ensure compliance to Safety programs such as Lockout-Tagout, Fall Protection, Fire Prevention, Emergency

Develop and implement training programs to meet the needs of Managers and Associates in regards to critical safety issues

Analyze accident data and build prevention programs to impact accident trends

Build management and employee commitment for a Safety program through engagement, leadership tools

Review Standard Operating Procedure changes and make Safety recommendations

Conduct site visits(atleast 60% of working time), reviewing site safety standards, share feedback with site Ops leadership team and site safety team, support them and hold them account for improving standards. Also tale this opportunity to have development and leadership conversations with the site teams.

Insist on high standards on risk assessment, Operational Safety rules adherence and site safety standards.

Conduct Job Hazard Analysis and Job Safety Analysis

Interact with Workers Compensation third-party administrators in carrying out claims management

Develop a positive working relationship with local authorities i.e. Fire Department, EHO

Provide weekly metrics reporting to senior management teams

Applying Lean tools to Safety: error-proof processes, analyze Safety trends and create proactive plans to address – develop analytical, dashboard performance approach to safety management key risks, use Pareto analysis and other tools to monitor and drive high-effectiveness Safety programs

Project Work for topics relating to the network

Support other related network projects

Maintain communication with law enforcement bodies and accident insurers

Maintain communication with Operational directors and General Managers

Consult with works councils, safety committees as required

Ensure metrics parity


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent with extensive Health and safety Management experience, preferably gained in warehousing and logistics industry.
  • Educated to Bachelor's Degree level
  • Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) or equivalent and having knowledge of EU & UK H&S legislation
- Flexible approach to work, ability to manage own priorities, workload and European travel. Travel - 60% of the work time.
  • Ability to work in teams and engage , collaborate and influence cross functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills to manage stakeholders across shop floor and executives.
  • Demonstrable record of driving significant change through an operation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Lean, 5S, HOP and Kaizen experience
  • Environmental qualification and experience in managing Env management system
  • ISO 45001 lead auditor trained
