About Sandbox Media
Sandbox Media is a small and fully remote UK digital agency based in Southampton with 7 years of experience. We focus on SEO, GEO (generative engine optimisation), and web design. We work with a portfolio of clients across aesthetics, medical, e-commerce, and industrial sectors, and we are building a market-leading specialism in growth for aesthetics clinics, combining search strategy with AI-powered lead handling.
The role
This is a senior, hands-on role. You will own SEO strategy and client relationships for a portfolio of accounts, and lead the delivery behind them, working with AI-accelerated workflows and freelance support rather than doing everything by hand. The director sets overall direction and remains close to the work, but the day-to-day success of your accounts is yours. As the agency grows, we expect to build the delivery team out underneath you, and you would have a real say in shaping that.
We are explicitly not looking for a strategist who delegates everything. You should be as comfortable building and refining a landing page in a page builder as you are presenting a 90-day plan.
What you will do
- Own SEO and content strategy for a portfolio of client accounts, from audit through to roadmap and monthly prioritisation
- Be the primary point of contact for a pool of clients
- Carry out the high-finesse on-page work yourself: landing page builds and improvements, on-page optimisation, internal linking, CRO tweaks, schema
- Lead delivery on your accounts: produce content and technical work efficiently using our AI-assisted workflows, and brief and QC so that everything shipped to clients is checked and correct
- Help shape the delivery team as we grow, including onboarding a junior SEO when the time comes
- Monitor performance in SE Ranking and Google Search Console, spot problems early, and flag them to clients before they ask
- Contribute to how we build our aesthetics specialism, including GEO and AI-visibility work
What we are looking for
- 3 to 4+ years of agency-side SEO experience with direct client ownership, not just delivery
- A track record you can talk through: accounts you personally grew, strategies you set, pages you built
- Genuinely hands-on with WordPress page builders (Elementor, Divi and/or Avada) and confident making pages look and convert well, even if you are not a designer by trade
- Strong written and verbal communication; you write clearly and you never leave a client or colleague guessing
- Self-managing to a high standard: you plan your own week, flag overruns before they become problems, and close your day with a clear summary of where things stand
- Comfortable with AI-assisted workflows to improve the output and quality of deliverables, or keen to become excellent at them fast
How we work
We are straight about what remote working here looks like. The director is sometimes in a different timezone, so we run on structure and written communication: daily task plans, end-of-day summaries, live timesheets, and proactive flagging when something is taking longer than expected.
Remote doesn’t mean never meeting. You will start with an in-person onboarding day in your first weeks, walking through the client portfolio and where the agency is heading face to face, and we get together in person each quarter to plan and review.
The deal
Sandbox is small on purpose and growing on purpose: we are building a specialist niche with a product behind it, and the next two years here will be building years. We are looking for someone who wants to be a genuine partner in that. Someone who treats the agency's growth as partly their project, spots opportunities without being asked, and cares that the work carrying their name is excellent.
In return, the rewards track the agency, not the calendar. As growth milestones are hit, salary steps, a bonus linked to the accounts you own, and perks like a compressed week get added, funded by the revenue we build together. And as the delivery team builds out, it builds out underneath you. You would be employee number one of the next version of this agency, working directly with the founder, not three layers below one.
If what you want is a stable, tightly bounded job where you do what is asked and log off, that is a completely legitimate thing to want. It just is not this role, and we would rather both know that now.
What you get
- £30,000 to £34,000 depending on experience
- A written salary review path tied to agency growth milestones, agreed with you at offer stage, not the calendar
- Fully remote with flexible hours around agreed core availability
- 22 days holiday plus bank holidays
- MacBook Air provided
- Company pension
As the agency hits its growth milestones, the package grows with it: bonus, additional perks and salary steps get added.
Hiring process
- Short application: CV plus answers to three written questions
- 30-minute screening call
- Paid trial mini project/task
- 30-minute interview
- References, then offer with a structured 3-month probation
We move quickly and we will keep you informed at every stage.
How to apply
Send your CV along with short written answers to the following:
- Describe an account you personally owned. Where was it when you took it on, what did you do, and where did it end up?
- Tell us about the last landing page you personally built. What would you change about it now?
- Describe a mistake you made on client work, what happened, and what you changed afterwards.
