Part Time Out of Hours Corporate Travel Consultant

Remote | 23 Hours Per Week | £400 Monthly Retainer + Additional Payments Per Query

Flexible OOH Corporate Travel Opportunity

Compass Talent are recruiting an experienced Corporate Travel Consultant to join the out-of-hours team of an established Corporate Travel Management Company.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced TMC consultant who wants to continue using their Sabre, ticketing and corporate travel expertise without returning to a traditional full-time travel consultancy environment.

The role provides 23 hours of scheduled OOH coverage per week, working as part of a small three person out of hours team supported by the wider full time team where needed.

The key difference is flexibility: when there are no active enquiries, you are not required to sit at a desk continuously. You simply need to remain contactable, monitor the relevant inbox and be able to respond promptly when a traveller requires assistance.

What You'll Earn

You'll receive a £400 per month retainer for your agreed OOH availability.

On top of this, you'll receive additional payment for enquiries and interventions handled:

  • £20 — Standard query/intervention
  • £35 — Complex query/intervention
  • £50 — Urgent/live traveller intervention
  • Additional payment for interventions requiring significant additional time

This means your earnings increase with the volume and complexity of the work you handle.

Example: If you handled 20 standard interventions, 5 complex interventions and 2 urgent interventions in a month:

£400 retainer + £400 + £175 + £100 = £1,075

That's £1,075 for the month, before any additional extended interventions.

The 23-Hour Working Pattern

You'll work as part of a three-person shared rota providing full OOH coverage.

Your allocated 23 hours per week will be spread across evenings, mornings and/or weekends, with the exact rota agreed in advance.

The wider service operates:

Monday–Friday

07:00–09:00
17:00–22:30

Saturday, Sunday & UK Bank Holidays

07:00–22:30

The three consultants will share these periods to provide continuous coverage.

Your specific shifts will be agreed as part of the rota, giving you flexibility while ensuring the client has reliable OOH support.

This Isn't a Traditional Shift-Based Role

When there are no active enquiries, you're free to get on with your own activities.

You could be:

  • At home
  • Spending time with family
  • Exercising
  • Working on other projects
  • Going about your normal day

Provided you remain contactable and able to respond when required.

However, when you're allocated to the rota, you must genuinely be available.

If a traveller is stuck at an airport with a cancelled flight, they need someone who can act immediately.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll provide professional corporate travel support to travellers outside normal business hours.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring the OOH travel inbox
  • Responding to corporate traveller enquiries
  • Handling urgent travel problems and disruption
  • Ticketing and re-ticketing
  • Flight changes and cancellations
  • Reissues and amendments
  • Complex itinerary changes
  • Supporting travellers at check-in or airports
  • Managing schedule changes and disrupted itineraries
  • Liaising with airlines and travel suppliers
  • Providing clear and professional email communication
  • Escalating complex issues when required
  • Maintaining accurate records
  • Following the client's agreed procedures and service standards

The majority of enquiries will be handled by email, with occasional urgent telephone calls.

The Type of Problems You'll Solve

This is where your experience matters.

You could receive an enquiry such as:

"The traveller is at Heathrow, their flight has been cancelled and they need to be in New York tomorrow morning."

You'll need to understand the situation quickly, assess the available options, check the ticket conditions, identify an appropriate alternative and take the necessary action.

You won't need someone walking you through the process. You'll already know what needs to happen.

Service Expectations

The client operates with a target of approximately one-hour turnaround for standard email enquiries.

Urgent traveller issues require immediate action.

If a traveller is at an airport or check-in desk with an immediate problem, you'll be expected to deal with the issue at the time of the call.

You'll have a designated escalation point within the business for issues that genuinely require additional support.

What We're Looking For

This is an experienced-level position.

You'll need:

  • Strong, recent Sabre GDS experience
  • Excellent ticketing knowledge
  • Proven reissue and re-ticketing experience
  • Experience handling complex itinerary changes
  • Previous experience within a Corporate Travel Management Company (TMC)
  • Strong knowledge of airline and travel industry processes
  • Excellent written English
  • Professional email communication skills
  • Confidence dealing with travellers during high-pressure situations
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong judgement and problem-solving ability
  • A calm and solutions-focused approach

You should be someone who can be trusted to work independently.

If a traveller contacts you outside normal office hours, the expectation is that you can assess the situation, take ownership and resolve it wherever possible.

Who This Role Suits

This opportunity could suit an experienced corporate travel professional looking for:

  • Additional income alongside other commitments
  • A flexible alternative to full-time TMC work
  • Remote working
  • The ability to use their Sabre and ticketing expertise
  • Greater control over their working pattern
  • A way to remain active in the corporate travel industry without returning to a traditional office-based role

If you've spent years dealing with ticketing, reissues, airline disruption and difficult traveller situations, this role allows you to monetise that expertise in a much more flexible way.
