Full job description

The 6 month post will commence on 1 st August 2026 at RNOH till February 2027

This is an exciting opportunity to gain or extend your clinical experience in Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery in the supportive environment of Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) . The candidate will spend 6 months at RNOH. As a valued member of the team you will be included in the educational and training activities of the units and will be offered study leave. Clinical research, audit and quality improvement activities will also be encouraged.

This post does not attract any on-calls, but there is opportunity to join the on-call rota if you would like to.

Furthermore although this is not a resident post, there is opportunity to apply for on-site accommodation to help facilitate potential move to the area for the successful candidate.

RNOH is a national tertiary hospital that provides a comprehensive range of neuromusculoskeletal health care ranging from acute spinal injury and complex bone tumour management to orthopaedic medicine and specialist rehabilitation. There are extensive services for children, which the Trust plans to expand over the coming years.

The Paediatric Orthopaedic Service is predominately based on the Stanmore site, with all elective surgery being completed onsite at Stanmore. Some outpatient clinics are held at our central London facility on Bolsover Street.

There will be joint clinics and joint operating sessions in addition to some independent but supervised operating and outpatient sessions. The fellow will be expected to supervise MDT and participate in audit research, and the general provision of the service within the unit and ensure the smooth running of day to day activities of the firm.

Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust (RNOH) is the largest orthopaedic hospital in the UK and a global leader in our field. We provide a dynamic working environment where we support frontline staff to implement improvements so that we can realise our vision of being a world leading neuro-musculoskeletal hospital providing the best patient care and staff experience in the NHS, delivering world leading research, and offering a strong foundation of education, training and career progression. Our dedicated staff come from diverse backgrounds, and our patients benefit from the wide range of experience they bring to the trust. RNOH brings unrivalled expertise together in one place allowing us to deliver some of the world’s most complex and innovative care to our patients.

RNOH is rated good by the CQC and covers two sites, one in central London and one in Stanmore - which has recently opened The Stanmore Building, a new, state-of-the-art inpatient facility.
