Full job description
This is a very exciting opportunity for a part time secondment as Senior Research Nurse in the Commercial Delivery Research Centre NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHLG). UHLG has been named as host to one of 20 research hubs across the UK. This programme is part of a £100 million investment award, bringing cutting-edge research to communities in Liverpool City Region.
As part of the NHS 10-year health plan, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has announced plans to establish 20 Commercial Research Delivery Centres (CRDCs), giving patients access to pioneering clinical trials and treatments in record time.
The Liverpool CRDC, funded by a government private investment initiative, will support the rapid set-up of commercial studies, meaning patients can begin accessing treatments and undergoing trials as early as possible. Alongside UHLG, the centre will bring together Cheshire and Mersey organisations including primary and social care; voluntary organisations and 10 secondary care organisations from the region.
Applicants must demonstrate substantial experience in a research environment and an understanding of the requirements for delivering clinical research studies. Previous research experience is essential for this role.
We have a proven track record in successfully recruiting into NIHR portfolio and commercial studies. We conduct a variety of projects, including observational and cohort studies, device and drug trials as well as mixed methods and qualitative research.
The Senior Research Nurse must be strong advocate for research and patients, able to both recruit and provide effective support to research participants. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as an ability to work independently and flexibly. The successful applicant will need to be enthusiastic and ready to work to recruit patients in line with targets, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHL Group) was formed on 1 November 2024, born from a shared aim to improve the care we provide our communities.
We are one of the largest employers in region, with over 18,900 colleagues who are dedicated to caring for our communities - from birth and beyond.
For the 630,000 people across Merseyside, we are their local NHS. We provide general and emergency hospital care, alongside highly specialised regional services that extend to more than two million people in the North West.
We operate from five hospital sites: Aintree University Hospital is the single receiving site for adult major trauma patients in Cheshire and Merseyside, and hosts a number of regional services including an award-winning stroke facility. Broadgreen Hospital is home to several elective surgical, diagnostic and treatment services, together with specialist patient rehabilitation. Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital provide specialist services in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology and respiratory medicine, both in the hospital and out in the community. Liverpool Women’s Hospital specialises in the health of women and babies, delivering over 7,200 babies in the UK’s largest single site maternity hospital each year. The Royal Liverpool University Hospital is the largest hospital in the country to provide inpatients with 100% single en-suite bedrooms and mainly focuses on complex planned care and specialist services.
The senior research nurse will be responsible for the day to day running of research studies including screening of potential patients, recruiting patients into studies according to agreed protocols, assisting in the informed consent process and management of all the study related data.
All clinical research activity must be compliant and conducted in accordance with European Union (EU) Directive, ICH/GCP International Conference on Harmonisation and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
**Please note that this job will include travelling to different sites across Cheshire and Merseyside**
